The eternal QB debate (merged)

I hope that he is able to get some big wins for us the rest of the way so that he can hear fans cheer for him as he runs through the "T" for the last time....it should be special for him...it was his dream...we gave him the scholarship...we should respect him the rest of the year!

I will go a step further...I challenge everyone to DOG OUT anyone that posts another Crompton Sux thread!!!...Enough is enough...it doesn't help

GO VOLS!!!

We will be cheering when he runs through the T for the last time. I just hope that it is for the right reason.

Here's a fun stat for you... Only one team in all of college football has more interceptions than your's truly. How embarrassing.

Gotta give it to Cromp for one thing... the guy NEVER gets hurt. Ever. Give this guy the IronMan award when he graduates.

EDIT: Oh excuse me, translated for the gator fans.... "when he gradulates"

Has anyone thought for a second that the pressure Crompton feels is not caused by the defense he is against but our fans? How would you like to be under a 100,000 person microscope each week, knowing if you do not play perfect you will be getting booed, people on message boards blasting your every move. Is it too hard to fathom that perhaps he does so well in practice is there are no boo birds around?

It is so easy to sit in your chair and call someone names and critique their ever move, how would you like to have has many critics and bosses overlooking you everyday that JC has. No matter what time they arrive from a road game JC is at church the next day, he loves being a VOL, is it too much to ask that the fans support him next week against the Tigers and take some pressure off of him.
well said.

The throws into coverage don't bother me nearly as much as the fumble that almost turned into a TD, the sack that he took that almost knocked us out of FG range and the 3rd down play that he busted when he went the wrong way. None of those plays show up on a stat sheet, but they will sure enough get you beat.

There is no way Crompton is better than Stephens. I don't care what Kiffin says. At this point, he can't hide it. Sure, Ginger had the bad game against Wyoming, but that was the week Fulmer was fired, anyone would've sucked. Against UGA and Bama last year, Stephens threw 3 TDs and 0 INTs. Enough is enough...
+1.....this is one time where we actually agree on something. We are at the bottom of the barrel with JC. He has brain lock, and I don't recall Stephens exhibiting that game after game after game.

I understand how CLK feels, but this is not a normal situation, this whole team is being held up and funked over by CLK refusing to budge on this...plus it is a total slap in the face to Nick, when CLK said at the start of the season that they were close...and now, with us struggling to complete a pass, he won't even let Stephens TRY. I guarantee you, his buddy Pete Carroll would've yanked Crompton by now.

This!!!! If there was a better solution then CLK would have him in the game already....I'd be willing to bet that CLK and all his staff have a really good laugh if they ever get on here and read what the "arm-chair" coaches have to say about everything...LoL...I know I find it quite comical at times!
CLK admitted more than once that sometimes their evaluations suck, and they are way off the mark.

Carson Palmer, Matt Leinhart, and M. Mustain are a few examples....especially Leinhart. CLK said he thought he was going to have to transfer to a Div1AA school, he thought he was that bad in practice. We all know how well that evaluation worked out...so maybe we should have a good laugh at your comment instead. :eek:lol:

CLK obviously has decided who he thinks gives him the best chance of winning... unless, of course, you believed Al Davis' claim that the coach was gonna sabotage the program. Not me. He doesn't have much wiggle room here. JC is doing his best. No boos from this fan.

I like it when people boo college kids. That way you don't have to guess who has class and who doesn't.

. . . and yet you do?

Actually I don't, and obviously no one else here does either. The post was about as far up the sarcasm meter as it can get. I have read through, and posted in 4 JC is terrible threads. Maybe 1 out 25 posts metioned CLK. Tons of garbage is thrown at JC. Why does he catch it all? CLK is calling the shots. (which at this point, there is nothing he can do, really) If JC is what many on here believe he is, why does CLK play him? These are questions several on here will not answer.

Im all for CLK, and he is learning something on every play, as to what he can and can't get out of JC. He is doing everything he can to make this a more rounded offense.

how is it on the coach's shoulders? He inherited an untenable qb situation. He has no option but to play someone. I don't understand why we're staying with this, but this debacle rests squarely on the plate of cbs' newest former coach commentator.

this!

So, my challenge to VolNation is to stop the bashing until the stats actually show a poor performance... and if they do, you won't here a peep from me. But how about encouraging the guy for the AU and GA games and see what happens?

Coach Kiffin.... Is that you?

I agree.....really irritating that Kiffin is being so stubborn. It's like he would rather lose than pull him which I find VERY odd.

go big orange

This post makes me laugh. If it upsets you, stop throwing interceptions.

Haha... I just realized how that sounded. By "yours truly" I meant us, the "Vols", rather than myself. However, Jonathan "Yours Truly" Crompton would probably be a fitting nickname considering his arrogant personality in his interviews with the media. What's everyone's opinion?
1. Is Crompton arrogant in thinking that he really isn't that bad?
2. Is he ignoring the fact that he has played worse than any starting quarterback possibly in UT's history because he just doesn't want to face up to it?
3. Or is he really just that ignorant about the situation?
I find number 3 hard to believe.

CLK has the advantage of seeing practice too
So he can make the best decision

Unfortunately, practice performance, and statistics, don't count in your win-loss record.

And there is such a thing as a great practice QB, and a great game day QB. They can be one and the same, or completely different. You already know this.

I won't second-guess Kiffin, but if (no, make that "when") Crompton has (another) meltdown, I hope Kiffin has the cojones' to make the change, and see what Stephens can do on the big stage.

We're a 7 win team at this point. Crompton might get us to 8, or sink us to 6. Personally, I'd like to see what Stephens can do, either in mop-up duty, or relief. Again, I'll defer to the decisions of the coaching staff.

In any event, Go Vols.
