The fix is in

A lot of overreacting here. Tennessee is capable of beating anyone in this playoff. There are still several paths to host. Georgia losing to Texas is one. No chance a 3 loss Geoegia team gets a 1st round game in Athens. I also think Oregon demolishes Penn State. Not sure if that's enough to drop them but it helps. Clemson / SMU are irrelevant. But if Penn State wins, or Texas loses, we might get a first round game in South Bend or Austin.

Lol they have played plenty of teams better than Arkansas. We got an easy schedule and still managed to drop a bad one. They had an harder schedule than us.

Ohio State would be favored over Bama at a neutral field and would likely beat them by 2 scores. But if 247 says Bama is the greatest, feel free to agree with them. It doesn’t align with reality, but oh well.
Ohio State almost lost to Nebraska at home. They definitely wouldn’t beat Bama by 2 scores imo. They don’t scare me whatsoever. Vols by 10

So they can't come within 3 td's of Oklahoma, a 6-6 team, but you're sure they wouldn't lose by two scores to 10-2 Ohio State. How does that make sense to you?

College football makes no sense lol. Bama played horrendous against OU. I don’t think they play that bad again personally but we shall see.

Bama is a conundrum. They have a top 3-5 team talent wise but something is off (coaching, discipline). It’s kinda like Washington last season.

They almost lost to Wazzu, Oregon State and Stanford, yet absolutely dominated Texas (Final score wasn’t indicative).

What’s great about it is any given Saturday, anyone can win.

I think everyone would be a lot happier if they'd just recognize the CFP for what it is: a beauty pageant, a lot more like the NCAA basketball tournament, and a good bit less like a competition meant to determine the best team in all the land.

Look at the most recent update. On the top half you've got three B1G teams, us (SEC), Arizona State (B12), and Boise State (MWC). On the bottom half you've got three SEC teams, Indiana (B1G), SMU (ACC), and Jerry Mathers as the Beaver. Sorry. I mean Notre Dame.

You couldn't telegraph it any more plainly that the desired outcome is to have a B1G/SEC final. I don't think for a second it's about screwing us over specifically, it's purely about having both brands represented. And I'd love nothing more than to blow it up and be the representative from the "B1G" side of the bracket.

Pressure is 100% on Day. He can’t beat UM and to coach at OSU you have to beat UM and the loyalists are calling for his job. They looked like dogshit Sat BTW. This may set up perfect for the Vols. The drama and chaos will be on display before we even get off the bus
The problem for Ohio State is who can they get to replace Ryan Day? They're not going to get Lanning away from Oregon and I doubt they let Urban ride back into town on a blonde.

The pool is pretty small for that job, I think, and Day was an internal promotion that hasn't worked out for them. I think they'll want a "splash hire" and proven winner but who?

And what type of schedules did those three teams play? PSU IU, and OU opponent's only won 51% of their games and two of the three were sub-500.
Bama, UGA, and OU schedules were against teams with a combined 64% win pct. I did the top five wins here in this thread ( Schedule Strength (for those saying Ohio State is Superior) ) but if you use the three toughest games and its an even more significant delta.
Our schedule looks a lot closer to Penn State’s than Georgia’s.

Least deserving playoff team in history, lost to Vandy and got blown out by a bad OU team
Welcome to the wonderful 12-team playoff. There are going to be "undeserving" teams make it almost every year. Just wait until they expand to 16 teams, then you're probably going to have multiple three loss teams make the field on an annual basis.

So not only did Ohio State not fall below Tennessee but by some miracle of Christ, Georgia ROSE in the rankings after an 8 overtime win to an unranked team at home. I think this was on purpose to screw Tennessee out of any chance to host a game.

Maybe I'm wrong but here's the only possible way it happens now ..

Unless Georgia or Penn St lose by 30 or more points.

This bodes terribly for UT. Tennessee hasn't beat a top 10 team on the road since 2006, 19 seasons let alone a game as crazy huge as a playoff game at someone else's home field.

A real shame.
Chance for heup to get a big win and on the road. Can’t play everything at home

I don't like it but I think we will be OK. Heup is the streak breaker. We will be ready. Also, Ohio st. has a pretty poor record of handling good SEC teams. We've always gotten the shaft, but many times we rise above it. I think this will be one of those times.
