If your dad is a labor economist, I'm sure he is correct. I have never known an economist to be wrong.Are you arguing that the tariffs haven't cost them $1B?
Thomas Friedman is an idiot. He's just a journalist. He's not a policy wonk or an economist. Pat Buchanan is a pretty good political figure, as far as they go, but he's been wrong about this topic for decades. It's why my Dad, a labor economist, wouldn't support him for POTUS in the 90's. My Dad supports/voted for Trump and he says Trump is wrong on trade. Does "orange man bad" explain that one?
Meanwhile, the trade spat seems to be bringing down food prices. China is going to take less of our farm products. So wheat prices are down 20% since the start of the year. Soybeans are at 10-year lows.
This is the ace the Chinese have in their back pocket and they could wreak the entire U.S. economy if they use it.
So before I reply are you asking about the technology differences? IE can you just take solar power as generated and run your house or source to the grid with the excess?
