The Golf Thread

I give up. Your knowledge of the golf swing is so much better than mine. I wish you the best of luck on making the senior tour. Do you care to give us your name so we can keep an eye out for you?
Again, you were using a lesson given to Charles Barkley to keep him from casting to talk about how Haney teaches Tiger Woods.

That has nothing to do with the golf swing nor how much either of us knows about it. I frankly don't give a rat's ass how much you know about the swing. Making senseless connections of that nature will get you ridiculed by me at every turn.

I'll identify myself when it works, but likely not to you.

Harvey Pennick would be the first to tell you that a lesson given to one student will not apply to another student.

somewhere, he's laughing in his grave over the Tiger/Barkley comparison.

Get the brown off your nose.

I stand corrected. Tiger is in no way, shape, form or fashion getting flatter with his golf swing. I do apologize for ever opening my mouth. I clearly have no clue what I am talking about.

Of course he's flatter at the top of his backswing, but he's certainly not flatter on the finish. You got some pics of those?

You act as if these photos are everything. They simply show you a position at the top. Tiger has clearly dropped his hands, but this little exercise is garbage. His posture is different, he's hitting two very different clubs, your latest picture shows a laid off club, which suggests a different swing or that he's already in the downswing, his knees show considerably different flex and it doesn't talk at all to the route of the club on the downswing.

By the way, the old swing was dramatically better with the driver. The Dr. Hook thing has done nothing but make that club worse for Tiger.

Again, I don't care how much golf you know, stupid little exercises of this nature warrant nothing more than ridicule.

Maybe you can show us pictures of his new putting stroke vs. the old. I can't wait.

For the record, I prefer the left to the right and I think that if you did a representation at this very moment, you would see more similarities to the left as opposed to the right. His swing, however, is more rounded (or flattish) and less up and down since he has worked with Haney. That is Hank Haney's m.o. That is evident in Mark O'Meara's swing. That is evident in Tiger's swing, and is something that he would incorporate in his teachings with Charles Barkley. No, Haney is not going to teach Barkley the same thing he teaches Tiger, but all teachers have a philosophy about the golf swing. The methods for relaying that philosophy to the one swinging the club may differ, but the philosophy does not change.

I had written out a response, bpv, when the server started acting up. I tried to post it and got the message that the server was too busy. It's not worth going back through all of it again, so I will just apologize. I'm sorry

Good luck! I mean that as sincere as I possibly can. I am not here to prove anyone wrong or prove my knowledge of golf, but I have acted like it. I teach the game of golf to kids and help as many people that care to ask me for my help. (Even you, if you chose--HA!) I am all about helping people get better, not proving I am better.

Since you didn't want to give me your name, which I don't blame you, if you do make it on the senior circuit, give us the heads up some way.

you might find this a bit odd, but I, too, teach golf. Even considered it as a career choice, but the pay sucked so I went to grad school.

No need for apologies on this site, ever.

Golf fact of the day:
The average golfer stands too close to the ball after he/she hits it.

That one is free.

As did I. I still think about going back to it, but I had to get a real job. Coming out of college, I took a small college coaching gig and loved every minute of it. Usually too much. I'm still young, though, 29 and unmarried, so the pull is still there.

Who all was able to get out and enjoy the weather this weekend? I can tell you that I am extremely rusty and whatever I was working on at the end of last year has completely left me. Which is sad, because I was finally getting a little better.
