The Golf Thread

I miss a few things about Phoenix but that may be the top one. Plus, if you don't mind the heat, you can play some great courses in June/July/August for cheap.

But damn it's miserable out there in Scottsdale in June. Folks talking about a dry heat haven't done it.

true but getting to play courses that would take 2 months salary during the winter is worth it. Plus, if you are out there in the heat they are making sure you're hydrated and have a cold towel every other hole. I only walked off the course 1 time and it was about 115deg (made it to the 13th though)

Took off work today and tomorrow. Played today and plan on playing the next 3 days. After all the rain we've had down here, I'm glad to finally be out playing again.

Ryan Moore must have some serious talent and feel, because there is a lot happening in his swing.

Anybody used the Opti-shot golf simulator

Seeing as how my season's basically done, was thinking about trying it out for the winter

It is 70 and sunny today, so I'm going to do my patriotic duty and go whack a golf ball, I'm guessing somewhere around 90 times.

Looks like i'm putting the clubs up for the year, it's been raining too much here in west tenn and I think it's about to get cold. I didn't even get to use the new Odyssey putter
Don't put 'em up :) I am in east TN and play basically year round....sure it gets cold.

Shot a hard luck 45 this afternoon, but it couldn't have been a better afternoon for it. One thing I didn't consider was the lengthening of the round caused by four guys trying to find balls in leaves after every shot--2.5 hours for a side is not exactly my style.

I did discover a glaring deficiency in my game--picking partners in Wolf. One tip: regarless of where he hits it, don't go with the redhead. That's my best advice based on today's experience, anyway.

these finals holes in China are interesting.

Tiger, Phil, and Ernie looking more like weekend hacks, if only for a second, than tour pros.

I'm starting a venture fund bent on ecologically sensitive sporting equipment. Ima make a fortune.

Any investors? I'll have a prospectus churned out next week.

I would have figured you for the other direction, trying to make golf balls with a half-life of a millenneum out of spotted owls and baby seals.

I'd be happy with one that flies a little straighter but still spins back when I hit a solid short iron into the green.

only if I can get the prospectus via PDF to save paper, and only if all hard copy prospectuses are made of bamboo.

Trying to decide whether it is worth it to try to get a game together tomorrow. This time of the season, there's always a chance that it will be the last round of the year.

go for it

Work won out; wife is tired of all of the stuff vacated from the new nursery stacked in the garage.

I would go hit balls, but it is really hard to get inspired to go to the range when I know I might be practicing for next April.

There is no "last round of the year." Remember, the offseason is when we get better.
