just played Clarksville Country Club
Was in really good shape, given all the rain recently
a consistent, 46, 46
Forgot I owed this report. The course was very scenic as it runs along and over the French Broad River. It hops two islands to cross the river. The 3rd hole is a par 3 where you tee from one side and hit over the water to the green on a large island ( I cleared it and put it on the back of the green - about 175 yds - yippee). The 5th hole is another par 3 which does the same thing onto a second island (was short there and lost the ball in the high grass on the bank). If you play the tips then on 6 you have to carry the river from that island to the other bank (a long carry). We played the whites, so we teed up across the river. I did well on the front nine for me (6 Pars, 3 doubles). 10-13 are an easy stretch of straight short par 4s. I bogeyed all of them (not good for me). The last 5 holes are very narrow with no room for error and I won't even talk about them. I'll blame those holes on a tactical error of not eating at the turn (the turn is out - the course goes out for nine then comes back in for the back nine). I will play it again. The rate was $60 with cart (weekend rate). I was paired with two vacationers from NC. One was very good - about a 2 handicap, and the other was around a 8. I was the worst of the bunch but they were very kind to me.I just arrived in town from DC for tomorrow's game. Only one overturned car on I-81 this time. I'm playinf Rivers Island for the first time at 11:15 tomorrow per suggestion from this thread. I'll give a report about the course (not about my play-I know how that will go) afterwards.

A crisp fall day, a nippy wind, an easy Sunday afternoon on the golf course, then a three putt on 2 followed by 2 balls OB on the third tee.
That isn't exactly what I had in mind when I decided to skip football on the couch in favor of hitting the links.
Just be glad you are getting to play. We've had 10 inches of rain already this month down here. I haven't had a chance to play in about 2 or 3 weeks and I usually play around 3 times a week. I'm about to go crazy down here.
I snuck out this afternoon and played 18 in the drizzle.
38 on the front:rock:
48 on the back:huh:
I really didn't hit it that bad on the second 9, and I'm not going to complain too much about any score in the mid-80s.
I played today. The first time since the kid and surgeries. I hit about 20 range balls yesterday and topped the first 17. Today we went beck out and I figured it out on the 9th or 10th ball. I decided to play 9 (grandparents were in town to babysit). All in all, it wasn't a bad round. I could only hit my driver about 250 and I was about two clubs short through the bag. I shot 43-hopefully things will improve.

Sorry to answer so late. Been holed up in training all week. Yes it was in very good shape by my standards. All three of us consistently thinned it out of the greenside bunkers, though. We chose to blame it on poor bunkers rather than poor play. Was it in good shape, particularly the greens? I've been itching to go back there (I live only 20 minutes away), haven't played there in quite some time. It's a good test for just about anyone from the tips, and plenty of course for my gimpy 17-handicap from the whites. Arthur Hills design, always been one of my favorites in East TN.
