With carrying a 2 iron, that's the same loft's as most 5 woods.
I'm pretty sure a two iron is 19 degrees, and your 3 iron is 21 degrees.

What degree is your 3 wood, you should look to split the difference between your 3 wood and 3 iron.

So if your 3 wood, is 15 degrees and your 3 iron is 21 degrees you should go for a 18 degree hybrid..
Thanks Vol in ar. This was exactly what I was looking for.

well, mixed reviews from this weekend......played the front nine about as well as i have ever played it, just didn't score worth a crap. but hit the ball pretty darn well. and scored about 4 shots better than usual.

played the back about like always do......like crap. and wound up with my usual pathetic score.

oh well, i did enough good to know that what i have been working on helped, and did enough bad to know i still need to hit the range some more......

If you hit the 3 iron that far with any consistency, I'd dump the 2 iron and add an extra wedge.
Agreed. Sounds like the distance gap between your 3 iron and 3 wood don't justify another club in between. From earlier posts, sounds like you could use all the wedges you can get your hands on.

Well, I get to be a designated putter in two different scrambles this weekend. Not much fun.

It'll be a lot of fun if you start burying birdie putts.

Since my last roll was in September, I don't really see that happening on a consistent basis. I think there might be a tremedous amount of beer drinking on the agenda for my weekend.

OK guys please advise. I am looking for a hybrid to replace an old 5 wood. I generally hit it between 225 and 235. It has really been a wasted club in the bag for a while now. Hopefully it will be my father's day gift. Any suggestions?

Trust me. Buy what you like. What looks good to you. What feels good. I never got into Callaway irons. I like the clean line from the top view. As far as hybrids, or any other club, don't shell out the big bucks until you check out Tour Edge. Serious equipment. Reasonable prices. You can even buy a "test" club for like $50 (6 iron, 6 hybrid) in any of their price line clubs. Welcome to Tour Edge Golf

There were some nice scores posted here for the last outings. My one best is 79 on a round. I'd love to see a 76. Could have been there a few times, but I always get that double double and end up playing salvation golf the rest of the to stay mid-80's. Lately mid-80's have been very welcome.

GAVol, that is the first I've seen you post your scores. Very nice. Next time you're around Hartwell, we need to try and hook up. On the links that is.

2 more days have you been practicing..

I actually played up at Highland Walk over at the state park outside Royston about a month ago.

No. I figure that I have only so many good puts in me, so it would be an absolute shame to waste them on the practice green.

I am undecided, however, on whether to wear spikes or flip-flops. I would certainly blend in better in golf shoes, but the flip-flops do have the advantage of comfort and a casual, laid-back kind of designated putter feel. Of course, there is also the danger of sunburned feet....

Oh, and the first tournament is tomorrow, the second is Saturday. 21 hours and counting,.

I agree with buy the club that fits your eye, but the hybrids are a different animal and you have to hunt to find those without draw biased weighting, unless you're trying to hit more draw than usual.

Very nice course. That is where I mostly play. I live between that course and I-85 off the Lavonia-Hartwell highway. Highland Walk is where I got my 79. That was also the same round I drove the green on hole 1. If you liked HW, have you gotten over to Arrowhead Pointe at RB Russell State Park in Elberton. Rivals Cateechee.

I know on some of Tour Edge Drivers, as well as any repsectable model, you can have a small selection of degrees open to square. Alot of tour players go up to 2 degree open face for workability for some reason. CAuse they're alot better than me for one. I know for a fact from Tour Edge web site, on their pro line model hybrids you can actually order the hybrid irons up to 2 degrees open face as well. That would tend to help with the draw bias.

Absolutely . . . I travel the whole state, so I have a way of ending up near golf courses. Arrowhead is one of my favorite courses in the state. The way they routed that course along the lake makes for some incredible views. It's like playing a Lake Oconee course except with no houses in sight.

I've never played Cateechee. I know a member though that keeps telling me I need to come play it.

It's more about the internal head weighting than the open face. You can manipulate the face, but you can't change the draw bias built into the head. Lead tape might help, but that starts monkeying with the shaft flex, etc

Let us know how you did,
If there's alot of beer in play go with the flip flops..

Golf sucks when all you do is put.

I did go with the flip flops, although I didn't go through nearly as much beer as planned. There was a slight overindulgence last night that made beer in today's relatively warm sun not sound particularly appetizing. Tomorrow will be a different matter altogether.

EDIT: Actually, the flip-flop comments are a little misleading. While I wore them in the cart and between the cart in the green, after the second hole I decided to go barefoot on the putting surface. It was surprisingly comfortable, and I am just going to ignore the facts that the greens are treated daily with poisonous chemicals, are probably home to millions of deadly microbes, and sport a fresh layer of goose crap, all of which came in direct contact with my tender feets. I am planning on doing the same tomorrow with much more beer.

Sign #423 that it's going to be a long day: Guy in group ahead of you is wearing flip flops.

Today, that guy was me. Don't sweat it too much though; we played an 18 hole 4-man scramble in 4 hours flat. I think there were 12 teams.
