91 today. That sucks hard! Trying to get my hcap around 9 this year and that round hurts. OB on 3 drives today and all three would have been playable if I ignored the stakes. Those three holes got in my head and I sucked. Stupid mental midget!

Well, that's 15 scores for me since I've been keeping good records beginning last August, so I guess I'll finally get around to establishing an official handicap. Online calculator pegs it at 15.4, which feels about right.

I dreamed of single digits, at one time..
Had it down to an 11, then had two kids and moved from Arkansas where I could play year round to Chicago, and even if you could play all year you couldn't afford it

Preach it. My thinking on the tee after contact was usually "Where in the hell is that ball going". And trees always seem to appear out of nowhere during those rounds.

Paul Goydos dropped a nice little 59 today in the first round of the John Deere Classic.

I shot a for real deal totally legit 59 once. Of all places on a Pete Dye course, The Ocean Course at Kiawah island. And we played from the tips. After I shot the 59 I still had enough courage to play the back 9. I shot a 51 on the back. My wife framed that scorecard for me.

One of the hardest courses I've ever played. Place is ridiculous, even with limited wind.

May have to break out the old 7.5 degree skillet out and pull a Mickelson and carry two drivers.

that 7.5 a flat hitting 975D with a EI-70 TS in it?

Have that club. Probably my favorite driver ever.

As an aside, I just got the R9 SuperDeep TP with Aldila RIP in it. First club I've loved since my 510 TP, seriously. I've tried a bunch of drivers and stuck with that 510 almost religiously. I think this is the first one they got right like that one.

Well I have two. The one I was speaking of was the 983E. I also had the D. It took some time for me to buy into the newer drivers. The higher and straighter ball flight took some getting used to. Ball doesn't move.

Loved the older drivers. Took me forever to give up on my 975D for much the same reason. That flat flight of the D was just awesome. I had the 983 for a little while prior to my 510. Always went back to that 510 with the real Speeder in it. Have tried quite a bit since, but finally one that appears to give me good launch with fairly flat flight. The shaft is clearly limiting the spin some for me so I don't get any climb, but the setup and flight are better than anything I've had. I might change my mind, like I have with most, and revert back to my 510, but I don't think so. Ball still doesn't move much, but it isn't that hard to adjust to straight or limited movement flight.

I may have to look into that. I never was a big fan of the r7's that came out and everyone went crazy about.

Kind of turned me against TM. The 510 was the best club they've ever made.

There's still that little spot in my brain that remembers hitting those 30 yard hooks and it makes it hard to trust it.

wasn't a fan of the R7, but did hit the R7 Limited TP for a while. Wouldn't move at all, but was a decent stick. Eventually went back to the 510 because I just got a better flight.

This club is longer than the 510 and it's apparently about the spin, which greatly reduces maneuverability.

we've all hit that one. Those low torque jobbies don't take toe shots very well.

Especially first thing in the morning. Made it feel like your hands were full of bees.

Another problem I've had with the newer drivers was they just flat out felt cheap to me. The older ones just felt more solid.

They do. The thinner faces make them all feel tinny. Regardless, I've gotten accustomed to the high, flat flight that doesn't move much. Going back to the smaller heads, which I love aesthetically, isn't happening. Hell, the new clubs have basically eliminated the duck.

I've switched as well. Still not overly giddy about them. It's nice not hitting the snapper, though. I most certainly have that shot in the bag.
