The Golf Thread

I still haven't hit the links any this year. Kind of depressing considering I finally started swinging well last time I played

Well, I played terrible today. Played 18 and shot an 89. That score is in no way indicative of how terrible my driving was, it just tells how I got lucky with my short game today.

Good news . . . today was the most comfortable round of golf I've ever played in July.

Bad news . . . it was because the wind blew about 20-30 mph all day long.

If anybody's interested in a good deal on golf shirts....a place called smartbargains.com has adidas climacool and climalite golf shirts on sale with an additional 30% off and free shipping. I bought three climacool and one climalite shirts for 71.00 total. They retail for 65.00-80.00 each.

Got in 18 this morning in beautiful weather, if 91 can ever be beautiful.

Horrible front, better back. My game would improve if I could figure out some way to hit my second shot from somewhere near the fairway.

Shot 82 today. Not bad but I lipped out two eagle putts and saved par twice with 20+ foot putts. I was driving and putting like a pro today but my short game was very VandeVeldish.

Back out tomorrow, need to break 80!

Had my first and most likely only double eagle today.

The only bad part was it was a blind/uphill second shot into a par 5 and I didn't get to see it go in.

I've had two hole in ones, but this beats them both.

I've had one double eagle (albatross) but never a hole in one. I've come close (within 3") 6 times, once on a par 4. One of my biggest gripes in golf course design is blind shots into a green. That's why I think Pete Dye is the biggest joke in the history of gc design, I despise his courses.

Just kidding. Congrats, hopefully one day I'll be able to know what one making of those two feels like

you are correct. I was talking about Fowler with that absurd turn. Rose has gotten his swing pretty well on the money.

He'll find a coach who'll make that club position better and use that shoulder turn with almost no hip turn to generate some incredible heat with few moving parts. Dude could be a monster because he has great touch and makes his 6 footers. He's a goofball looking thing, but he can be a force. Watched him and his OK St. teammate at the amateur and thought Uihlein the better player because he's a big, tall cat with more classic swing, but Fowler can move it out there get it in the hole.

I can't wait for Peter Uihlein to make his splash. I got to follow him around in his junior days and that kid could stroke it then. His swing was so silky smooth. I remember all the top high schoolers were waiting on hos college decision so they could follow him

Of course, when your family owns Acushnet, you already have a leg up on the rest of the golfing world

Thanks. I had came close once or twice before.

Congrats. I'm insanely jealous. I've only had three career PUTTS for eagle (I'm a pretty short hitter due to some hip/flexibility issues), so the albatross is just about inconceivable to me. No aces, either, but two career eagles (holed out second shots on par 4's).

For the record: what did you shoot for the round with the albatross?

Threw up a respectable, for me, 88 today, which was a bit miraculous hitting 4 fairways and 4 greens. Nice to finish with 30 putts and a birdie on the last.
