The Golf Thread

in other breaking news, all those Nike putters, they were putting out Thur, Fri and Sat of the Open...after Tiger came out Sunday with the Cameron, Nike sent them all to Rock Bottom Golf for 59.99 each :)

Beware people the end is near. 3 straight 320+ drives. Never done that before. HIGHLY recommend the r9 460

how far did you hit it before, and with what kind of driver?

280 ish with a callaway fusion regular flex. Now with this stiff flex I put a little more umph into it. Of course my swing has improved over the last 2 weeks so that has a little something to do with it

Stomp that nugget.

I'm trying my best to my friend. I was honestly stunned when I got down to the first one and almost drove the green. I almost hit the group in front of me because I wasn't expecting it.

Also, nothing like posting a 44/37. I am the definition of consistent

for sure. what degree face is it?

10.5* I got some crazy launch off of this driver. I absolutely love it.

I like a clubhead with that much loft on the face and a high center of gravity paired with a high kicking shaft. Despite the 10.5 degree face, the dynamic loft of the club is relatively low. Good launch angle off the club face gets the ball up, but imparts relatively little spin.

Need everyone's opinion on my game. Just broke 90 the other day for the first time, yet I've been increasingly frustrated with my distance. I have a TaylorMade r7 Draw driver (stiff flex), King Cobra 3 Wood and Nike Slingshot irons 3-PW steel shaft. I'm a 5'7 135 lb lefty and I just don't hit the ball for squat it seems. Here are some distances for reference:
Driver - 210-215 yds
3 Wood - 200
4I Hybrid - 175
6I - 145
8I - 125
PW - 95
I've been thinking of switching to graphite irons and regular flex driver. I usually produce a pretty high ball flight with the current clubs. Should I switch to graphite irons?

No way to answer for sure without seeing you swing, but at those distances, I'd guess that you need all the help you can get with clubhead speed so regular flex/graphite would almost certainly be worth trying; especially in the Driver.

I'd also ditch any iron over about 5 or 6 and replace it with a hybrid or high lofted fairway wood and also play around with higher lofted drivers and maybe a 4 wood instead of 3 wood. Low lofted clubs aren't anything but harder to hit if you aren't generating the leverage to make them fly further.

In terms of being on plane and everything my swing actually looks pretty nice. Haven't had it video taped recently, but I'm pretty sure it is all in my release of the club. I think it is too "elongated". I just don't feel like going to see a swing coach because they will probably tell me to change my grip or some crap. So frustrating because my short game is pretty good and I hit everything decently straight.

More of a long slow release, not accelerating through the ball like I'm capable of. But it feels comfortable.

In other words you swing super easy. Definitely need to go Regular flex shafts and hit a low compression ball.

Anybody played Camp Creek between Destin and Panama City...
Thinking of trying either tomorrow or Friday
If you can't find enough golf in Destin you must be there for a while and playing every day. Between the San Destin courses, Emerald Bay, Kelly Plantation, Regatta Bay, etc there should be enough to whet your appetitte. With that being said I have not played Camp Creek.

Based upon a quick internet search it looks like a very nice Tom Fazio course. Makes me want to go on vacation again. Not a whole lot of bad courses down there.

My buddies prefer to call it "p*s*y" but pure sounds good to me. I don't want to make the investment to new irons quite yet so I'm going to go get my driver reshafted tommorow. Get my swing speed examined, etc and then decide on what is best for me. Also going to try some of the low compression Precept Laddie golf balls.

What kind of ball are you currently playing? You might try something like the Srixon soft feel ball. It is not going to give you any greenside spin but could help with some distance.
