The Golf Thread

I'm not a fan of "quick fixes". I try to dig into the fundamentals of what the hell I'm doing wrong and fix it from there. Sometimes it works, sometimes it makes me want to break a club.

golf is the most incremental learning curve in the world. On top of that, many of the increments are backward. Excrement!

Badds abandoned S&T last year. Claims he just couldn't move the ball.

he's been crooked as hell regardless of what he does. He's an otherworldly putter and when that doesn't get him there, he loses-badly. He only went there because he was an awful ballstriker in the first place.

Dude reminds me of Stankowski on the range, only shorter. At least Stank hit high bottle rocket style bombs all over the lot.

I don't like Paul caseys swing. Nasty hitch at the start.

Although I have a furyk-esque swing so I csnt really talk.

anybody know anything about women's clubs? this chick i know wants to get a set, but i have no clue where to start or what i'm looking at.

and honestly, with the way i've been playing, i should probably look into getting a set of my own.

a number of companies make womens golf clubs. i bought my mom a set of Square Two clubs and they were around $200 I think. I got them at a golf shop in DC, but I'm pretty sure Edwin Watts carries them. The clubs aren't as nice as Callaway or anything, but they work for her, and she likes them. All the clubs are included, putter, irons, woods, and driver. They make them in different sizes (petite, regular and tall), so go to Edwin Watts and just see what they have. you can easily spend more. but if you want something for less I'd look at the big box stores or used.

A lot will depend on what kind of golfer she is. If she's just starting out and doesn't want to spend too much, take a look at Play It Again sports. You never know what you will find there.

yeah, it really does depend. if she is capable of swinging a mans club, then you can probably piece together a set of used clubs for cheap if she's just learning

if a man's club is too long or heavy, it can be hard to swing, and frustrating- she might just give up.

there's two types

really cheap or really expensive

there's starter sets for around 175 to 200..
Even going the Play it again Route, the good women's clubs that come through there are still expensive, since they don't come through that often

How about a broom?

My wife has a set of pink Adams. The set came 5-PW in irons and 4 and above as hybrid.

She loves them.

Definitely looking for a set with hybrids. If I can't hit a long iron I doubt she can either. I was mostly concerned I guess with the quality of the cheaper sets.

Adams makes a "good"(easy to hit for beginners) ladies' set with everything including bag for less than 500.00. Either that, or find some used pings at an online store for about 150-250 and buy a cheap bag. I'd go for easiest for a beginner to hit and those adams hybrid/iron sets are fairly easy for anyone to hit. So are almost any pings. The first 200 bucks is just thrown away with really cheap clubs if someone really wants to be able to actually enjoy playing. Just my 2 cents.

Budget golf is selling their authorized pre-owned Ping Redwood putters online for 89.00 bucks. Probably putted with in a store or proshop. All four (?) models. I usually see them used for around 150 or so.

Always wanted one. Unreal balance and feel.

I don't work for budget golf. I don't know anyone who works for budget golf. Just passing on a decent deal.
