sounds like a recipe to drill people

If by people you mean "Lexvol" you are totally correct.

My playing partner simply laughs his butt off at me because my game completely falls apart when I play the old man. It is the incessant taunting that gets me.

I'm telling you, it's the graphite shafted irons.

I finally exacted some "old man" revenge last week. My Dad insisted on playing the senior tees and for some reason I was unconscious that day with a wedge in my hand and laid a cool 71 on him.

 :mega_shok:

Your message is ringing loud and clear BigPapa.
I'm just hassling. If they work, they work. I'm with GAVol, if I can attach a frying pan to the end of a coathanger and make it work, that's what I'm doing.

Let me be the first to thank you GA.:dance2:

Woo-hoo! Reached 0 degrees extention in PT yesterday. Still need to work on pronation and supination before I hit the links, though, and my right elbow actually extends about 2 degrees into hyperextention, so there is still some work to do, but I consider it a landmark.

I am pretty sure that a masochistic streak is a requirement for going to PT school, though. Those people can get mean.

Congrats Cotton. Don't worry, once your elbow is back you can return to the clinic and slap your PT around some.

Congrats! Hitting that 0deg mark is a big step.

I dated a PT once and you are 100% correct.:) I also went thru 2 knee rehabs but it was the g/f that really made my mind up.

There is a judo move they use to stretch the thing at the end that is always saved for the coup de grace, but even the ultrasound massage thing causes discomfort. On top of everything else, the arm bike and rows really work out the romboid muscles as well as the elbow, so the day after I feel like a bull the picadors have already lanced.

In the end, though, if my left arm gets squirrely on the backswing, I can blame technique rather than injury, which is a good thing, I guess. I'm estimating about 2 more weeks before I can start pulling irons and hooking drives.

go easy on those PT's......when the wife gets agitated at her patients, she generally takes it on me!!!

so just remember, the PT's have to go home to someone!!!!:)

Actually, one of the PT girls is pretty cute. She is interning after finishing her first year of PT school at Belmont. I have seen her dark side, though.

i've seen my wife's dark side too....not good.

and don't get me wrong.......she can be mean about this stuff too. when my back goes out sometimes, i used to think "sweet, i live with a PT, this will be great"

wrong. she has zero sympathy and just barrates me about doing exercises and stretches.......offers me zero help............................:)

OK guys. I need some tips on getting my shorter irons down a bit. I get plenty of distance, but I am throwing my seven, eight, nine iron and pitching wedge way too far up in the air. I want a little more control. All suggestions are appreciated.

could be any one of a number of things, but it's often because you're coming in too steep at those irons. might try a flatter takeaway and consciously try to come into the ball with a longer arc. Make sure you're going down through the ball as well. Sweepers tend to hit moon rockets

had the best front nine i've played in, well, forevever, yesterday.......not too bad, for me on the back, but still got some work to do on and around the greens.

but hit the ball better all around than i ever have.....6 strokes better than last outing.....so, we'll call it improvement and keep going......headed in the right direction.:dance2:

Thanks BP. I will give it a try. I think that it does have something to do with a steep downswing. I am a pincher, so the only club that I generally come close to sweeping is my three iron.

I will work on a flatter take away and better follow through. I may need to set up a little further away from the ball.

If you're not losing any distance, chances are that your swing has just gotten a little too long and steep. As far as you hit the ball, I think you'll be shocked by what happens to your accuracy if you just gear it down a little. I wouldn't change anything until I tinkered around with hitting some 3/4 shots and some punches. That alone will flatten you out a little and produce more predictable results.

Thanks GA. I think my first move will be moving a little further away from the ball. Sometimes I feel like I am right on top of the ball with my short irons.

I did some grip work on the course this weekend, and it cost me several strokes. I must work this stuff on the range before I take it to gameday.

we call it the 9 o'clock - 3 o'clock drill. great ball striking help. imagine your arc being face of a clock and swing only 9 to 3. great for tempo, feel and will help with arc of the swing.

on course grip work = disaster

Are you playing cast or forged clubs. If there forged you can take them in and get a degree of loft taken out of them.

Rarely talk about my play on here, but broke par twice over the past week. Pretty good for a guy with 3 year old twins who never works on the important stuff (50 yds and in).
