Played 9 today, shot 4 over. If I had played a halfway decent course it would have eaten me alive. I played horrible.

Never understood why he seems to go out of his way to be confrontational..

He survivied the Rose interview, so he'll probably survive this one too

I hit about 4,000 pitches, chips and putts yesterday. Will hit about 500 6-8 irons today.

85. Timing off and blocked a few drives bad. Having issues transferring weight back to front and keep getting stuck.

My first day was solid, second was hideous. I flat couldnt chip it inside of about 10'.

Part of the problem I had was that the course I was playing was had nothing but tight lies on dormant bermuda around the greens. I couldn't hit a decent pitch shot to save my life.

Much of mine was that trampled dormant crap. If I'm sharp, I like that lie because I can spin it, but if I'm not - damn.

It doesn't help matters that I've got some crazy deal going now where I'm scooping pitch shots left and right and hitting them fat. I know a lot of it is just not playing, but I've tried every swing key imaginable and I'm still sticking it in the ground a lot.

Open that dude up more and try letting the bounce keep it from digging at all. Slide that flange across it. Sounds odd, but that's what the bounce do.

Ugh. You know it's pure confidence.

Sure it is. It's comical how many different bounce/loft combos I've been through in the past few months. I actually found a used Ping Eye2 SW about a month ago and went back to a 2 Wedge set because I got so tired of hitting craptastic lob wedge shots. I'm as good opening up a SW and using the bounce as I am hitting a LW.

In the end, it's purely a matter of for the first time in my life I'm not playing semi-regularly.

My game came back when I put up the LW and started hitting about 90% of my shots around the greens with my 54. I have to have a special need to hit my 60 now. I practice with it, but I wear out my SW. I play almost all from a pretty open face to use the bounce and that effective loft plus the tighter lip in my 60 just make it a tough shot a lot of times.

Amazing how easy bump and runs are and how often I quit using them and work the prettier shots. I can be an absolute moron at times. Should have dropped back to my 8 iron when I couldn't chip.

I know exactly what you mean. The flops and spinners are just more fun . . . but the bump and run and Texas Wedge sure are easier to execute when you're not playing as much.

Just Nantz 'cause he's a Freddie homer.

I mean, I like Freddie and all, and I feel for him and his chronic back problems, but too many people talk about him as if he's one of the all-time greats, when his career record is almost identical to that of Jim Furyk. (1 major, 15 total PGA wins for Couples, 1 major, 16 total PGA wins for Furyk.) And Furyk has about half the swing that Couples does.
