The Golf Thread

That my friend is simply wrong. I am building a house less than a mile away from a golf course right now, but the running joke among my golf buddies is that once the kids arrive, it might as well be 100 miles away.
that I can vouch for. I played twice from the time mine were born until they were 2. I'm coming back with a vengeance this year however (that's really smack talk, since my kids are now barely old enough to go the range with me, I can take them with me and my wife appreciates the break).

I am within 10 miles of 4 or 5 courses. If you all ever visit anywhere around I will be glad to show you the good spots. I will talk to Mickey Mouse and get you a tee time at Bay Hill.:)

Stevie Wonder and Tiger Woods are in a restaurant
having dinner.
Woods turns to Wonder and says, "How's the singing career going?"
Stevie Wonder replies, "Not too bad. How's the golf?"
Woods replies, "Not too bad. I've had some problems with my swing, but I
think I've got that going right now."
Stevie says, "I always find that when my swing goes wrong, I need to stop
playing for a while and not think about it.
Then, the next time I play, it seems to be all right."
Tiger says, "You play golf?"
Wonder says, "Oh, yes, I've been playing for years."
Woods says, "But you're blind! How can you play golf if you can't see?"
Wonder replies, "I get my caddy to stand in the middle of the fairway and
call to me. I listen for
the sound of his voice and play the ball toward him. Then, when I get to
where the ball lands,
the caddy moves to the green or farther down the fairway and again I play
the ball toward his voice."
"But how do you putt?" asks Woods.
"Well," says Stevie, "I get my caddy to lean down in front
of the hole and call to me with his head on the ground, and I just
play the ball toward his voice."
Woods asks, "What's your handicap?"
Stevie says, "Well, I'm a scratch golfer."
Woods, incredulous, says to Stevie, "We've got to play a round sometime."
Wonder replies, "Well, people don't take me seriously, so I only play for
money, and never
play for less than $10,000 a hole."
Woods thinks about it and says, "OK, I'm up for that. When would you like to
play?"
Stevie says, "Pick a night."

My club's Jack and Jill is this weekend, starting tomorrow. Thank God it is a tradition that my girlfriend plays with her father. I think I shall arrive at the event in time to hit a bucket of balls before retiring to the dinner with perhaps a brief stop at the bar.

I have two kids, and the first didn't change that much, but with the second I've played 13 fewer rounds this year, just at my home course.

Were just back from Destin, and I usually play 4-5 rounds in the week, were vacationing, this year it was two.

So kids are definetly going to slow your golf game down, but their worth it..

My son just turned 5, so my golf has really picked up in the past year or so. Things were getting so easy around the house . . . that we decided to have another child. T minus 4 months until my golf career is interrupted once again. :p

Has anybody on here hit the new Nickent hybrids or drivers ? They are having a demo day here today, I think I might go and put them to the test later today.

Yesterday was a complete struggle. Took five hours to play a round, played with strangers who read every putt for at least 45 seconds and struggled to an 86. I had my first triple bogey of the year on the front nine (in the drink twice), and just so that one didn't feel lonely, I added a second on the back (OB off the tee). It was just one of those days.

* Please note that I do not mind people reading their putts and being diligent, but when possible please get your read while the other people are freaking putting.

I hit a Nickent hybrid about a year ago when they were really pushing them hard on the Nationwide Tour. It felt pretty good, but I already had a Taylor Made Rescue in the bag that I like.

Nothing worse than watching a guy meticulously read putts en route to shooting a 91. If people would just pay a little attention as they walk onto the green toward their ball, there just aren't too many putts that can't be read in about 5-10 seconds.

Did you play this weekend GA or Papa, if so what did you score?

I didn't play this weekend at all. I played 9 holes on Thursday and it was like an out of body experience. I made 4 bogeys from the middle of the fairway with a wedge in my hand. I was burying balls in bunkers, 3 putting and just sucked in general. :banghead2:

The course I played was a Pete Dye. I hit three blind bunkers from great position. I was pissed.

If you would back off of the poker table, and go hit some golf balls, I am sure you could shoot in the 80s.
There both expensive habbits. The beer involved does not help either. I could make money in poker if I did not drink my winnings.

Golf thread has been noticeably slow this week. What gives? Everyone play poorly on Independence Day?

Hit the new Nickent driver and 20 degree hybrid at demo day yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by the results, pretty good clubs.....not enough to make me switch from my Calloway driver or my Hogan utility though.
