Doesn't the definition of "moved" still apply though? The ball has to actually change positions.
I just don't see how they access a penalty when the player claims it didn't move, didn't call it and a zoomed in HD video which offers a better view than the player even had is inconclusive. Slugger White's claim that it "obviously" moved is simply ridiculous."oscillate" as Tiger defines shows that the stays in the same position. I honestly can't tell from the video if it did move or not. The PGA is claiming it's obvious it did. If anything, it slid down into the junk more, but I can't really tell.
IMO though, there's no way Tiger missed it moving. I've always noticed when I accidentally do it. That's a guaranteed one stroke penalty. By not putting it back how it was, it's another stroke.
It may be a stupid rule, but it's a rule and for now it has to be enforced, just because, again, it is a rule.

I'm pretty sure you're kidding about fans throwing balls out of the rough, and the boulder move was a result of a ruling that anybody in the field would have gotten at the time.Poor Tiger, never gets a break. lol.
For years they set up courses for his style of play. Now - not so much. Sorry, can't feel sorry for a guy that took advantage of dumb fans moving a boulder from in front of his ball or them throwing his ball back into the fairway from the rough/trees. The rules are the rules regardless of how dumb they seem at times. Most of the guys on tour have experienced this sort of thing numerous times and they call the penalty and go on. But that's not how Tiger rolls and everybody knows it.

Honestly, I think if it's not Tiger or maybe 5 other guys that would get extreme coverage, that camera shot never happens and there's likely no penalty assessed. Even after seeing the video, I don't think I'd have called it.
I was kidding about the throwing balls stuff. The boulder - not so much. Most professionals would have dealt with the lie and played on. He took full advantage of hero worshippers on that one.
Could be right on the camera coverage aspect. Price of being a legend. Maybe he didn't see it legitimately. Don't know how - I could see it. But after that bad drop that had every serious golfer in the world yelling at the TV last year it's hard to believe him anymore.
I agree with community college on something. Early onset dementia is a bee atch!
You shouldn't. Miller was a best player in the world for a decent while. He voluntarily shut it down and never got it back.
The idea that Tiger might be above reproach on a golf course is silly. In fact, there is absolutely nothing to support that he is anything but a moral leper.
Pretty sure that a lot of his voluntary shut down was the fact that somewhere in the late 70s his putting became an atrocity. You shouldn't. Miller was a best player in the world for a decent while. He voluntarily shut it down and never got it back.

Miller was really good, he was never great. He was nowhere near as good as he thinks he was.
Miller was the first David Duval.
I think he was a little better than that, but that's not a bad comparison. They both played insane golf for about 3-4 years and then fell off the world. Although, Miller did manage to have a resurgence and show flashes again. If Miller could have even putted average in the middle and end of his career, he'd probably have been in the Phil Mickelson/Billy Casper category record wise.
