The Golf Thread

I don't play enough to have the expectations that I have, but it's inexplicable that I can put a Driver anywhere I want to but then on the same hole look clueless hitting a flip wedge.

I'm the same way. Smoke a drive and then shank a LW from 60 Yds. Took me until 18 to realize I had my weight to far back.

Have you played River Falls Plantation? those were the first Zoysia greens i played on and they rolled wonderfully.

I play there a lot & they are hit & miss. When it first opened it was a lot nicer with some nice fast greens. Unfortunately, like a few places around here, its hard to maintain greens like that so they opted for something easier. They're not bad but they're not great either IMO.

so it's official. They are going to close 9 holes at a time and do @ a 1.5 million renovation by resodding all the fairways with zoysia.
I really don't want to pay while I wait on that and pay more when they jack up the rates. I pass Gov club and Nashville golf on the way and they are equal or less expensive. We just have a good group of guys and I don't want to leave because of the game but I don't live out there like most of them do and drive @ 40 minutes each way to play.

have you stopped at each club, and asked about there weekday game
I beat both have one, and you could probably play and then decide

there are no good games there that fit. Some younger guys that are all good have started playing at Nashville but I'm too old for them. Our age range is @ 33-45 and I bet we have 35 kids between us. We usually play @ 10 am so we can get home and do our dad stuff so it's tough to find a group like that.

You play any other courses around here bigdan?

I'm from around Anderson so there is not a great selection around here. The course i play most is near my home in Pendleton. I enjoy Smithfield's in Easley, not sure if you have played it. In Greenville, I have played Riverside, Hejaz (did not like), Verdae, Green Valley, and Crosswinds the neat par 3 course. I do know a member at the Reserve on Lake Keowee (where the BMW will be held on Saturday), so i get out there maybe twice a year. It's a beautiful course, if you ever get the opportunity to go to the Reserve or one of the Cliffs courses, GO!!!

I've played Cobbs Glenn in Anderson but it was years ago. I haven't played any off the Cliffs courses. I've played Crosswinds & it's a nice par 3 but you can play real golf for what they charge. I have played Verdae. I've recently played Hejaz, Bonnie Brae, as well as courses close to home not that any of these are outside 20 mins or so from home...Village Greens, Links O Tryon, willow creek, Greer CC, & Woodfin Ridge. River Falls is just a couple mins from home. I also like Cherokee Valley up next to North Greenville College. There's a lot more I've played it's just hard to remember all of them. On Good Friday we went to Brevard & played Connestee Falls. Nice course. Had deer in the fairways & other wildlife roaming around.

Looks beautiful. Depending on how long ago it was, Cobbs could've been pretty good, or really bad. I don't think i have ever seen a course been let go of so much. There has been state amateurs held at cobbs. But it has just gone downhill. How are the Links O Tryon? I have also played Bonnie Brae, that is a FUN course!
