I don't, last year when I was down there I talked to a few guys who said Camp Creek was well worth playing.

Anyone play Titleist AP2 712? Also looking at the Mizuno MP-59. I think its finally time to retire the clubs from high school.

I need to find a demo day, not many of them here in Clarksville. I have looked in the Nashville area, but haven't had any luck.

Both sets’ you’re looking at came out in 2012, so hitting these at a demo day will be a slim chance. The Mizuno MP 59 is your best shot as they are still listed as current model. The 712’s have been replaced by the 714’s.
Most of big demo days where most of the OEM reps are there have already been done this year. They are done in the early spring when the new stuff comes out. There will still be some smaller demo days this season but the reps are usually limited at these.
Mizuno had one today at The Hermitage in Old Hickory:

Called Edwin Watts in Nashville & they carry both brands. You can hit them in their store. They use to let you pay a deposit & take clubs to a course to play. Now they have the 90-day buy back. You buy them & don’t like them; you can take them back within 90 days with receipt for a full refund.

Unless you just gotta have new clubs, buy used. You’ve got a local Craigslist & one in Nashville. Avoid Ebay, too many fakes. If you need me to help you find something used, let me know

Thanks man! I was planning on making a trip to Edwin Watts next week and seeing what they have. I didn't know if they let you hit irons in the store or not. I have been looking at craigslist, but just haven't seen anything decent. All the clubs that I have ever bought have been used so that's probably what I will end up doing. I can't seem to justify the money on brand new clubs when the used ones are so much cheaper. I'm not playing badly with my current irons, I just feel like I could make another step up with some newer ones.

Not sure about in Nashville but here Golfsmith is way better than Edwin watts. It's about 10x the size with a lot more stuff & 4 or 5 simulator bays vs 1 at Edwin watts.

Played 9 at the VA Hospital Golf Course in Murfreesboro for $8. After a few bogeys on the first few holes, and a quadruple bogey on a par five caused by my bad tee shot, I used my three iron from the tee box instead of the driver the rest of the way. Parred four times and shot one bogey the remaining five holes.

Shot an 83 yesterday, best round of the year. Drove the green on a 280 par 4, 4 putted for a bogey.

Shootin in the low 80's & lookin at the 712's & MP59's, the Ping S series would work just fine. Forgiveness not needed

I shoot in the mid 80s fairly consistently. Every once in a while I'll pull a low 80s out. My irons are fairly consistent, few miss hits. My misses mostly go left about 10 yards. I definitely had a big improvement over the last 2-3 years.

How about ball striking? Do your irons look like these?

You won't have the brown spots on the Ping's. Only happens on carbon steel forged clubs. It's from the coating wearing off & the steel starting to rust. Takes a lot of ball beatin for those spots to appear

I like sharks tooth. I hit thru some fairways at camp creek and like to play new courses with my driver, which I cant do there. If I'm at a new course with some blind landing areas while also clubbing down, I'm psychologically beat already. I crushed my first drive at camp creek right over the 150 and took a double as we never found it. It happened at least 2 other times that round.

You can still see where you hit the ball. In the middle. Towards the toe. All over.

If I have a miss hit it's going to be on the toe. If I shank it badly it will go 20 yards right, but that rarely happens. If I hit it somewhat well and miss my target it's generally going left 10ish yards. If that makes sense. I haven't ever taken lessons, pretty much have just learned on the fly since early high school.

I disagree about buying used. If you're shooting low to mid 80s, get properly fit clubs for you. Will make all the difference. Ping's fitting system is top notch, but a good pro can get the set up right for you in just a matter of time.

It does make sense. You're a decent player but don't flush it dead center every time or maybe not even most of the time. Sometimes maybe even a touch fat or thin?
