If anybody likes experimenting with different balls I recommend the Callaway supersoft to try. Great ball for $20 a dozen. It performs well & feels like a balata ball.
Do you sacrifice distance though? About 2 years ago, I just threw up my hands and started hitting Pro V1x all the time. You know what you're getting every time, but $50 a dozen gets old.
No just as long to me. I'm with you on the pro v1s. Great ball but not worth the price. For $20 you won't lose much to give them a try. They're low compression & low spin but they stop & have zip with the clubs they're suppose to.
Low compression could get problematic for me, but for $20 I may give them a shot.
After putting one I had to try them. They are really super soft. I'm like you on the pro v1s so I experiment with different mid range balls looking for similar playability. I've did all the mid range Nike balls, NXTs, gamer tours, e6, etc. I don't notice much distance disparity in any of them. Some feel different. Some spin a little more. Some peel up "gills" or scuff more easily.
I think I could play the NXT Tour S and be fine. The NXT might even be longer than the ProV1. The difference is when I get an awkward yardage with a wedge. I can still spin it with the ProV.
When's the last time anybody hitting yellow Pinnacles consulted a rulebook?
