Anyone else ever use golfnow? There's only one course around me I've found for sure that uses it but you can get some great prices. Booked a tee time this Sunday for me and my buddy for 14 dollars apiece 18 holes with cart. Normally 31 dollars at this course.

They do have a soft feel, and spin around the greens, but if I play something harder, I just allow for more roll. It is pretty easy to figure out after a shot or two.
I learned how to play a lot of shots a long time ago before a lob wedge existed. I have played on all kinds of greens with many different golf balls. I played wound balata balls for probably 30 years. I am not going to tell you that a hard rock plays just as well around the greens on every shot, but I think that I can do okay with any ball, and probably shoot the same score. Not if you played a place like I play. There are some greens where it feels like you're hitting onto a pool table. The ole "one hop and stop" is my go to shot.

My point was that the way I play, and where I usually play, the ball doesn't matter that much (to me). I have always managed to hit 12-14 greens, and aim away from tucked pin positions. So, I may try to get up an down 4 to 6 times a round, and rarely short side myself. There is usually some green to work with where I'm chipping from. I don't think a ball change would affect my score to any great extent.I grew up with 2 wedges in the bag; hitting flops with a 56* wedge too.... but I want access to every kind of shot. Plus, small, bent greens don't mix well with rocks.
I played it once. The greens were lightning fast the day I played, and the fairways were firm and fast. It's a nice course, and the greens made it difficult for me. I hit 15 greens in regulation and 3 putted 9 times. Shot 84 with 45 putts, 9 three putts, 9 two putts.I have been fighting a slice too. That has always been my miss. I was fitted with a new driver and shortened the shaft and I was doing well, but it's reappeared. My coach was telling me my swing is looking better, just lining up to the left and coming across the ball causing it to spin off. So I too think I need to trust myself and aim straighter off the tee. I also need to stop trying to swing so hard.
I'm playing tomorrow in a tournament at Blackthorn Club in Johnson City. Has anybody played it before?
