Stonehenge is definitely my favorite. Dorchester and Druid Hills are both fine, but there's nothing all that outstanding to remember. It's a few minutes outside Fairfield, but I really like Bear Trace also.

Go eat at the Brass Lantern.

Thanks, wish we could play those Heatherhurst courses. I played the Bear Trace last fall, but conditions were too bad to form a real opinion. Rain and high winds make most any course intolerable.

I'm at the greenbrier. This course is really beautiful. It's a cool tournament to come to because everyone stays at the hotel. You sit next to players at breakfast. Play blackjack w them at the casino. See them at the bar. Just saw the duck dynasty guys in the lobby.

I'd like to come back though when I can play the course.

Got a round in today shot another 92 at Elizabethton this time. Considering my hatred of that course and that it's been set up for the ETA this week I'm fairly pleased with the score.

The golf course in retrospect isn't what is important, but it's a testament to the state and it's people how well WV has rebounded from those devastating floods and this gets to be their shining moment. It's an absolutely beautiful course

Has anybody been to Hilton Head and played a lot? Taking a trip there next month and hope to play 3-4 times while I'm there, but do not know which courses to play.

I've been looking at Old South, Oyster Reef, and Heron Point. Plus I might splurge and play Harbour Town Golf Links while I'm there. We are staying in Sea Pines Resort.

I'm in Sea Pines all the time and played Heron Point on Thursday. It's in very good shape. Atlantic Dunes has just been redone and is very good as well. Harbour Town is awesome.

Outside the plantation, the Palmetto Dunes courses are always a safe option; particularly the Robert Trent Jones course. Oyster Reef is a good layout, but it's been awhile since I played it. Shipyard is just outside Sea Pines and is a fun one too.

Off island, Hilton Head National, Crescent Pointe and Old South are good choices.

Eat at:
Crazy Crab (for the location, not the food)
Reilly's
One Hot Mama's- BBQ
The Wreck / Salty Dog Cafe
Hogshead Kitchen - Bluffton
British Open Pub
Captain Woody's
Skull Creek Boathouse (go early)

Can you tell I've been there before?

Spot on post. Old South is a big yes, so is Skull Creek Boathouse.

Shot a 90 today, wish I could put a good front and back nice together. Anyone know of any good places in D.C. to play? Going later this month would like to play a couple rounds there.

GA forgot to mention Poseidon, and I went on his recommendation last time I was down there. They have a great happy hour.

Ping released the G400 lineup today. Looks like another impressive group of golf clubs including a driver, woods, hybrids, and irons.

Couple interesting things I heard about it this morning. Apparently Ping now has a program where they can create a driver concept and this program will let them hear what it sounds like before they actually create the club. They didn't have this when they made the Ping G and once it was made and tested it's sound had the same frequency of a baby crying. Also they claim that if you took the G30 against the G400 the G30 would have to be a 240cc head to have the same aerodynamics of the G400.

I've finally decided to get my first actual golf lessons, first one is tomorrow. It's been frustrating trying to play only a handful of times a year (busy with kids, work, etc), and I decided that I either needed to give it up or commit to lessons and practice to make it more enjoyable. When I connect, I can hit it plenty far, and I have a decent wedge game, but my consistency is terrible -- last weekend I developed a crazy pull/hook, which is very unusual for me as my common miss is a slice. I just need some good foundational analysis. Wish me luck!
