The Golf Thread

You know you're bitter when you see a one armed guy make a hole in one and you're first thought is "he can't spin the ball, so he has a better chance at rolling one in than I do".
I have really been cheated. I have holed out with full shots from a 9 iron , a 5 iron, and a 5 wood, and all were on uphill holes where I didn't even see the ball go in the hole. There was no one around the green, so I assume they went in on their own. None were on a par 3 though, except the provisional where I hit the 5 iron, and I found the first ball, and didn't even get to count the provisional as a par 3. I made 4 after finding the first tee shot.

3 weeks ago, I was playing with a few friends. Missed the green on a short par 3, got pissed and dropped another ball. Knock it in. 👍 Story of my life

Funny! I will say that the 3 full shots that I remember holing out were all perfectly struck shots. I remember playing with a guy that skulled one in the hole from about 160 out.

That's what drives you crazy. I've holed out on full shots 8 or 9 times and I can't remember a single one that I didn't hit pure.

Worst ace story ever... My Dad and I played at Hilton Head about 10 years ago and after the round I had to drive home. The next day I'm sitting in my office and my Dad calls and asks "What did you hit on #7 yesterday?" Seemed a little weird but I gave him a straight answer "8 iron". He then said, "That's the wrong club. I just aced it with a 9 wood!"

Proof that Bridgestone made the Nike ball Tiger played with???

I’ve worked with Bridgestone’s R&D team for nearly 20 years now, so I know they are the market leader in golf ball innovation, but the last couple of years have been different,” said Woods. “Working closely with the R&D team, I’ve been able to take ownership of this design more than any other ball spec in my career. We have taken it to the next level with the new REACTIV cover. It gives me the right feel and has short game spin that exceeds my previous urethane ball. Off the tee, ball speed is up and this new TOUR B XS is definitely longer while still being in my window.”

Just got back from the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando.

Lot's of new, cool stuff coming out.

Was salivating about that yesterday listening to Michael Breed on Sirius broadcasting from there. My Mizuno JPXs have about run their course.

Except for the finish, those look remarkably similar to my old McGregor Tourney Customs (also the Muirfields that came later, but I never had those) from about 1980. I also had a set of Mizuno blades , before anybody around here had ever heard of Mizuno. I think maybe MS-3 or something? I need to look them up.

Edit: Also looks like the early McGregor VIP irons.

Always a great day to tee it up:cool::)

I absolutely love to play and I used to think that as well, played in all kinds of lousy weather, but now at almost 55 years of age I have a rule that it has to be at least 48 degrees at tee time before I'll even consider it and I prefer 53 or above. The days of playing in near freezing temps have gone by the wayside for me. Just simply not quite the badass I used to be. 😏

I went out today, hit some balls on the range, and chipped and putted a little. It was pretty chilly due to the wind, even though it was sunny and about 52-54 when I was there.

I've had two double-eagles on uphill par 5s that I didn't see
