The Golf Thread

I think that was the main difference in the TP and non TP line. I got the non TP because I can control the height with the shaft. I just like the lesser lateral movement, which I can absolutely live without. These new clubs with their high sweet spots can keep the ball under the wind well by hitting it lower on the face. I know that's always been the solution, but it's even more pronounced today and you still get a rocket off these things.

So you think it's as simple as just teeing the ball down a little bit? I guess that stands to reason. It's so forgiving in the toe and heel that it's bound to be forgiving if you hit it a groove low.

As far as your rationale for not getting the TP, that was exactly my thinking as well. It's just not that important to me to be able to rope hook a driver.

it might not be that simple, but these rolled faces would suggest it works. I don't know how high you tee it today, but even hitting cuts I tee mine fairly high for these tall sweet spots. I want something low, I just tee it down like my old drivers and move along. If this club doesn't work that way, I'm gonna be a little disappointed.

If I wanna rope hook something, I'll use a 3 wood. I wanna big cut, I'll stick with the driver and hang it open. Big cuts are easier with these new sticks than rope hooks and I'm good with that.

If I never again see another rope hook, it's too soon. I don't even wish 'em on guys I'm playing against.

I'm playing with my boy who's a +4. I better make hay on the stroke holes or I'll get housed. He will live up to his handicap. I on the other hand...

I'm headed out to play with a few friends in about 30 mins. It's gonna get ugly.
I'm headed out to play shortly as well. Unfortunately, it's with a guy dramatically better than I am on his home course, which suits his game far better than it suits mine.

Nonetheless, it's the best course around here and it beats the heck out of the office.

Playing again early tomorrow AM. Might just knock out 36 since my weekend trip was cancelled.

played 18 this morning at a nicer course in the area, stayed around and practiced putting for about an hour, just got a haircut and I'm about to meet a buddy to play nine more on a local muni. It's been a tough day.

I wouldn't go near a golf course this weekend though.

My 2 iron arrived today, my TPs came 3 thru pitch and I just didn't feel right not having a 2 in the bag so I ordered one.....now I can pull that 5-wood I never hit out of the bag.

my days with a 2 iron are finished. Even at my best, I couldn't hit it like my hybrid, and I'm nowhere close to the player I was.

I'm not either and I know that I am totally opposite of most players but other than the flatstick the long irons have always been the best part of my game especially the 2. I don't know why but that's my comfort zone, I know it sounds crazy but I'm more confident of hitting a quality golf shot with a 2 iron in my hand than a 7 iron.

I've been down the hybrid road and it just didn't suit me, not saying I won't travel it again sometime but not til I start playing poorly with the 2 thru 5, and I'm happy to say that ain't happened yet.

just curious, but where do you live? and what kind of courses are around you?
live in Fayetteville AR. not really a very good golf area but I play a couple of pretty decent courses. One public , which plays about 7100 yds and the other private which is tight, undulated and long (RTJ jr course).
