The Golf Thread

played the past 2 days, first day, was killing the ball. shot a 45 on 9 holes though. my chipping is now killing me. Can't seem to get the 2 working on the same day. 2nd day, i had the worst hook i've ever hit. not sure what was happening. Been hotter than hell the past 2 days. Couldn't make it all 18.

I played it last fall and didn't think it was ver tough

As with all courses, the tournament setup and the setup for the rest of the year differs significantly. Otherwise amatures would be miserable playing it.

Any narrow par 70 that plays over 7200 is going to be tough. Did you play the championship tees?

Shot a piss poor round of 86 today in miserable heat, finally got the driver swing going and failed miserably at the rest of the game, damn game never ceases to piss me off and excite me at the same time. Leaving for some beach golf in the morning, see you guys in about a week.

I'm headed to Sea Side this Friday. Will be playing the Raven and Regatta Bay.

Played in a Member Guest this weekend. I didn't win anything, but I did manage to accidentally break my driver . . . while it was still in the bag . . . in the middle of the final round . . . and I wasn't even mad and throwing or slamming clubs. It was quite an episode of Murphy's Law in action.

As in a splintered shaft maybe? I somehow torqued a Callaway Warbird driver many years ago in my bag on a cart and the shaft was splintered. I took it to an Edwin Watts and they swapped it out on the spot no questions asked.

i at best tapped a metal tee marker at Graysburg Hills and snapped the head off my old 975D. I'm not kidding, i hit the ball much harder than I tapped that thing. Wasn't mad or anything, in fact I had just smoked a drive down the pipe on a par 5. Worst thing that ever happened to me. I had been pondering a new shaft for it anyways, and couldn't do anything with the YS6 that I put on it. After a few months upgraded to the 983K and the rest is history. The 975D is sitting in storage in Norfolk as we speak, right beside the 983K.

also for those interested, I bailed on the J33. Bought a new tennis racket instead

I was putting my putter back in my bag and completely missed the bag. The head of the putter hit my driver and cracked the shaft. My partner immediately looked and me and said, "So. . . you gonna lay up with a 3 wood here?"

Hopefully it was late in the round after consuming plenty of "aiming fluid".

I've never heard of, or actually even thought about, anyone breaking their driver with a putter. Crazy.

Shot an 83 today. Going to go to range a couple times this week to work on a couple things the playing again on Sunday with the father and some other family friends for Fathers Day.

anyone know where i can get one of those ping bracelets?? It looks like those live strong ones, but it's black.

Just wanted to say that I officially cannot hit this dumb hybrid that I purchased. It's a Nickent something or other....killing me. I'm just going to find a 3 iron to match my set. In other news...i've a big fan of my new Cleveland 54* DSG wedge. I'm loving the sole grind...magic out of the beach.

if that Nickent is a 4dx, you have a great club. However, if it has a stock shaft in it, you need to have that addressed immediately. Slam the Aldila VS proto by you hybrid shaft in it and I think you'll like it.

It is,
It does,
and I will.

Thanks. :)

What are you hitting in your Driver right now? Due to the unfortunate demise of the Fujikura stock shaft (which I grew to hate) in my Tour Burner, I need to come up with something quick.

PMd you. Those spec Fujis tend to be junk, unless you get the TP models, then they're the real thing.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm going to try and find one to demo and probably go get on a launch monitor to see where my specs are right now. I like the Driver, I just could not get a feel for the shaft and what my standard shot shape was going to be.

I know I'm already a weirdo and I think this probably just adds to it.

Nothing beats golfing in HOT weather. For me, the ball flies through the air like no other. Hot and EXTREMELY humid causes some difference, but I love hot weather golf. It's definitely when I play my best and today was no exception.

I think I just hit every shaft known to man. I settled on the Garafalloy ProLaunch Red. It got the ball flight down and brought back the gentle power fade I have grown to love.

that's the one I would have chosen. That's the flight for me.

I knew I was in trouble when the pro walked onto the range with about 6 shafts, a Tour Burner driver head and a wrench.
