I think that most people have their own niche if they will just try. For example, I frequent an establishment for lunch because of the bartender/waitress that works there (Miss Tonya). She is sweet as apple pie, and does her job to perfection. She makes a really good living because of this too. Purchased her own home and does anything she wants to do. She was born with her bright, warm, caring personality to do what she does. I couldn't see her doing anything else.
I am a controls engineer that deals with customized automation. I do a lot of PLC programming for specialized situations and it's not easy, you have to really think of all possibilities and come up with something that will work to not only improve production and machine function, but prevent hiccups as well. Not easy, not anyone can do this job.
I could never be a cop though. I would overthink things and cause a huge mess. Hats of to those that can do this job well.
I went to college with a guy that held a degree in mathematics already. This guy was probably the most brilliant person I have ever known. He never missed a question on a physics exam. When we took dynamics together and actually had to build something, he couldn't do it. Myself and the other person in the group had to do this work, and he provided all the calculations and description to exactly what we did. We all have our strong suits.
Is there such a thing as unskilled labor, yes there is, and people do these jobs for various reasons. Some I have known have worked menial jobs for years because they liked to smoke weed and didn't want to pass a drug test. Some just don't want the headache of anything other than pushing buttons. They love that....would drive me insane personally.
There a frustrating point to where some people could better themselves and chose not to do so for various reasons. Drives me crazy. As long as they aren't mooching off the government they can do what they want. That's where I draw the line.
