was a bad play call. iirc, we stacked the box against their box (twss), pulled a guard, and shifted the fb to the right basically pointing to where we were going.
Teams miss short yardage each week, even in the pros with the best in the world.
I'd complain more about our left side continuing to let the DE come in unblocked as Tiny blocks down on a DT.

Dude it's Tuesday - game's over and soon this season will be over, this team will be replaced with team 118, aaand that's about all I can think of to be in any shape/form happy about at this time.

The lines on both side of the ball never did much of anything. If we miss that a whole lot then it's going to be awful for a long time.

Anyone else miss the days when we could line up in the I, point at the hole we are running at, and the defense still could not stop it ?

This offensive coordinator needs to show something next year. If not he's going to help get Butch out of here sooner rather than later. The defense was bad at times, but the offensive play calling and the repetitiveness of the calls were absolute garbage at times..

Did anyone see a pass to the TE all year? If we did i must of missed the one attempt we tried..

My mood will change when there is less talk and more doing on the hill

I think it would be easier if we hadn't beat South Carolina. After that, the " less talent " excuse went out the window. That proved we had enough talent to compete if we had the right coaching. That coaching, for some reason, disappeared.

Then, we have the disastrous game Saturday with the worst offensive game plan since Picketts Charge at Gettysburg.

Downs is our only TE and he can barely drag his leg down the field.
An oc and qb need their safety blanket in a TE for play action and to keep the safeties honest and no team has to scheme for our TE. Particularly bad to not have one for a true freshman qb that should be redshirting, especially when your downfield receiver wouldn't be on many SEC teams, much less starting.

I agree. I think the coordinators will be here for awhile. Can't imagine seing us learn yet another system after next year. This one must require a lot different personnel than we have at the moment. You're right though, they need to open it up next year.

I can specifically recall one attempt: Worley to Downs....The ball was a bit high, but hit him in the hands and he dropped it.....But yeah, overall it seems that we didnt get the TE involved much.

This line owes a lot of their greatness to Tyler Brays ability to get rid of the football quickly. He made them look a lot better than they were for 2 years.

The thing with the TE is I don't believe Butch really uses one. When he got hired the Cincinnati boards were saying that Butch never uses a TE.

Downs has 11 catches on the season with two for TDs. Branisel had three catches with one TD.

2012 TE for Cincy:

leading receiver with 45 catches
led the team in yards at 722
led the team in yards per catch
led the team with longest td
let the team with 8 tds. Next closest was 4.

He plays for the Chiefs now.


good call on not using the TE though. Almost correct. Sounds like some VN'ers full of misinfo have been on Cincy boards as well.

Funny how UT's offensive production suffered when the starting QB went down, and UT was forced to go with the fourth string QB.
