The Green New Deal

hehehe

The first is a comprehensive study issued every year by the energy company BP, called the Statistical Review of World Energy. It uses a different methodology but produced similar findings as the EPA data — a 0.5 percent decline in emissions for the United States in 2017 (Trump’s first year) over 2016 (Obama’s last).
The study found that it was the third consecutive year that emissions in the United States had declined, "though the fall was the smallest over the last three years."

...

A second set of data from the Energy Information Administration, a data-collecting unit of the federal Energy Department, showed a similar pattern.

....

. In 2017, when Trump was president, emissions fell by less than 1 percent. That was a smaller decrease than for either of Obama’s final two years. In 2016, emissions fell by 1.64

thank you for proving my point. and btw I referenced the 1 to 1.64 number

Even with the decrease, and possible regression in 2018 we are still doing better than most of the world.

The absurd point you were trying to make was that Trumps policies are responsible for a decline in emissions while nothing could be further from the truth since Trump has made it clear he doesn't believe in anthropogenic climate change. Do I really need to supply his idiotic statements on his "CHINESE HOAX"?
HOW TRUMP IS ENSURING THAT GREENHOUSE GASSES WILL RISE
US CARBON EMISSIONS SOARED IN 2018 HERE'S WHY
U.S. greenhouse gas emissions spiked in 2018 — and it couldn’t happen at a worse time
E.P.A. Announces Repeal of Major Obama-Era Carbon Emissions Rule

President Obama speaking to Jeff Goodwell on the shore of the Arctic in 2014 spoke of reading THE SIXTH EXTINCTION by Elizabeth Kolbert and how that influenced his thinking and his concern for the future for Sasha and Malia:
Climate change is no longer some far-off problem; it is happening here, it is happening now,” Obama said. In perhaps the starkest language he has ever used in public, Obama warned that unless more was done to reduce carbon pollution, “we will condemn our children to a planet beyond their capacity to repair: submerged countries, abandoned cities, fields no longer growing.” His impatience was obvious: “We’re not moving fast enough,” he repeated four times in a 24-minute speech (an aide later told me this repetition was ad-libbed).

The Obama administration made a number of policies to reduce carbon emissions and as a result:
Carbon Emissions Fell During Obama's Last Year in Office
Obama pledges to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from federal buildings
  • Executive order proposes 40% decrease from 2008 levels within 10 years
  • Energy consumption from renewable sources is planned to increase by 30%
It is quite obvious to anyone without some axe to grind or some personal political agenda, Obama desired to cut carbon emissions with serious opposition from a Republican Congress while Trump thinks the more carbon the better - i.e Trump Digs Coal
Not sure who you are trying to fool but anyone with a brain knows it takes some time for any effort to have a measurable effect - hence Obama's efforts paid off until 2018 when Trump's repeal and reversal of those efforts showed up in measurable effects.

never said his policies were leading to the decrease. stop putting words in my mouth. I just pointed out that the decrease continued under Trump.

I have no axe to grind. Heck if the green deal ever got implemented I would be rich and inundated with work, well the firm I work for would. I am willing to bet that the work I have actually done has done more to decrease emissions than 99% of the people who complain about the climate change.

Obama did more to crap on the green market than he did to help. He helped solar, and a little with wind. But he killed a lot of really innovative tech when he pushed all the money into those two fields. He only really tried to tackle the one side, energy production; didn't address the other side, energy use. I worked on the Solar Decathlon in school at UT, we came up (with ORNL) a cool hybrid heating and cooling system. Because it wasn't solar related, it counted against us, and ORNL could never get funding to push our prototype into further testing. I am also a believer in the work he did with Solar, Solyndra was an excellent product, we used it. Issue was Obama wanted to rule with his pen and his phone and thought the market would go a long with it. so instead of an easy win, he blew it up to a major loss for solar production in this country.

Most of his water source changes too were huge craps on the green field pushed by psuedo science while ignoring real world evidence and advice.

my problem with Obama is the same as the Paris Accords. Its not about actually fixing the problem, its all about being seen doing something, even if it doesn't work.

Mea culpa - I thought you were trying to say Trump was responsible for the decline in emissions. Glad we got that straight.

I'm around 1,200 feet here in OKC. I think I'm good.

Sorry to hear about those New Yorkers and Californians. Please relocate to the States you've already ****ed up instead of coming here.

With one major exception, a big part of me would absolutely love to see NY and some other liberal havens underwater. The exception: rats fleeing a sinking ship always go somewhere else; that's when I'd have to become a NIMBY.

It just sums up liberalism. The policies and politicians I support are bankrupting me. Let me move somewhere else and make it that way for more people.

Not if you sink the ship fast enough......

Must be a lot of glaciers and snow-pack above sea level melting to cause a rising sea level.
I was not specific enough about the Arctic sea glaciers so deleted message.
Thanks you are correct as I did not consider land based

Knock down and replace every single building in America and build it back so that it's green efficient.

I actually can't believe they released that.

The left never loses affinity for the broken window fallacy, even if they have to break it.
To be fair, it seems to call for upgrading existing structure.
