The Grill and BBQ thread

Just got a Kamado a couple of weeks ago. Can’t stop cooking on it. First butt tomorrow. Tonight I smoked some chicken breasts and some tomatoes and peppers. The attached is the chicken in some homemade bbq sauce. Sooooo good. Mixed the smoked tomato in with some rice and grilled corn. Heck of a meal.

Very jealous! My fiancé promised me a Komado Joe this summer as a wedding gift. We are waiting on the Costco roadshow to buy it since it’s almost $400 cheaper that way. Where did you get yours?

Local Ace Hardware. Was thinking of waiting for the Costco roadshow, but it will be a while before it’s near me again. Didn’t want to wait that long.

Nice, congratulations! I’m not wanting to wait either, if Nashville doesn’t get added to the list by mid summer I will look towards Ace Hardware or another local dealer. Fingers crossed.

Today’s adventure. Turned out great. Topped with my favorite slaw and a new bbq sauce recipe.

It's not exactly the point of this thread, but a little nugget of useful info:

Archer's BBQ will sell whole butts. They are around $40 and hold well for a few hours in a cooler before pulling. It's a great option for company when you don't have an entire day to devote to a good smoke!

Thanks guys. Got the KJ about two weeks ago. Weather is nasty today, so I think I’ll do some jerk chicken on it tomorrow. Found this thread about a year ago. Have saved a lot of the recipes you guys have shared over the years. Looking forward to trying them all.

New project: Turning these beautiful pork ribeye loins into ham chops. (Check out the marbling.)

Step 1 - Cut them into 1.5"-2" chops
Step 2 - Cure for 48 hours

Really? $40 for a whole butt vs. $11-$12/ lb.? That's the way to go.

I thought it was a fantastic deal, as well. They also gave me 4 different plastic containers (4-6 oz?) of sauces of choice. Their mustard-based one and jalapeno one are really good.

That's a great price!
