The Grill and BBQ thread

Well I did it. I bought a masterbilt gravity fed smoker. Seasoned last night and will do first smoke on it this afternoon. I’m thinking ribs or chicken. If y’all have any tips on these things it would be greatly appreciated.
Seen those in action on some social media smoking recipe posts…looks like a game changer! Keep us updated…especially when you do a brisket. My vote for your maiden voyage is babyback ribs.

I had one of these and I loved it. It runs through quite a bit of fuel so there's that. Be sure to keep and eye on the grease catcher. It's kind of a pain but it's worth it. To that, I didn't keep too close a watch on mine and it basically caught on fire and destroyed it.

Cooked some steaks on it last night and turned out real good. I’m doing ribs tomorrow. I’ll let ya know. But yeah it takes 6 mins from light to start cook to get to 450 degrees. It’s wild.

Oh dang. Thanks for the heads up on that. Did you put your choice of wood in the feeder or the ash pan? Also any tips on how much wood is enough smoke. I know that’s all to taste but I’d you could save me a couple of cooks that would be cool haha

You don't need that much wood. A couple of chunks is plenty. I put them in the ash pan. Good luck and post some pics of your cooks!

Has anyone made "poor man's burnt ends" by cubing up a chuck roast? I've heard they can be very good but not a replacement for the real deal. Just curious if it's worth a try.

I’ve been wanting to do this as well. I’ve also heard of doing it with cut up hotdogs 😂

I have a prime tri tip at home waiting in the wings to be smoked. Does anyone have any good tri tip recipes I should try out on my first time doing a tri?

If it's a Prime I wouldn't do a whole lot to it. S&P but let it sit on there a while so the sLt can penetrate. Reverse sear like a steak. Cut against the grain. It will be fantastic!
