The hire Al Golden Thread

Didn't Golden get in trouble with the NCAA about 3 minutes after he stepped on Miami's campus?
He had nothing whatsoever to do with that.

He's done a pretty good job considering the world of sh!t he arrived at, but I'm still not quite sure he's ready to be called a success just yet. He still hasn't really competed with any of the big boys yet. Granted his team is extremely young and green, but there is some serious talent there.

How you figure? Because he said so?

I'd rather have Al Golden than Butch Davis.

Al Golden consistently gets lesser talent to play up to comepetition. Butch Davis consistently got outcoached by Tom O'Brien, despite having MORE talent. Even Derek Dooley beat O'Brien.

While obviously joking, Miami wears orange.

Will Muschamp is our next coach!

I'm sure loads of guys are dying to play in front of 36 fans way off campus for a program that could very well get obliterated by the NCAA.

You'd be surprised. Look at Miamis last recruiting class, and look at the kids they have committed for this one. As that poster said "Miami recruits itself" for the most part. The vols are going hard after Jermaine Grace who is a LB out of Mirimar HS in Miami. Lol he will be signing with Miami.

How does he figure Golden had nothing to do with that?

Because it's well established that the events transpired well before he got there. I'd suggest doing a little research to avoid looking like a fool.

Name calling!

I could go on, but I'm just a caveman and don't know how to use the interweb very well. Maybe one day you can teach me because I have no idea what I'm doing. Enjoy!

Reading Basilio blog today and he says Golden is in our top list. Am I missing something? His W-L ratio is pretty abysmal...is there something I am not seeing? Looks like Dooley 2.0 to me...

Al Golden is a phenomenal coach. From what i understand, he got screwed by the Miami administration because they didn't tell him about the NCAA stuff that was coming down the pipe, at least in terms of severity, and he wants out.

The guy is a great football coach and can recruit. While he may not be your ideal hire, he is certainly an upgrade.

Bull hockey, That guy can't coach a lick...He has all that talent here and is blowing games right and left...He might be worse than Dooley...Do not let anybody fool you, He is not the coach to go after.

He's not my first choice, but using two decent seasons at Temple as some sort of proof-positive that he is a failure is backwards thinking IMO.

Idiocy running rampant itt. Temple was arguably the worst 1-A program in the country from 1991-2005. They got kicked out of the Big East because they were so horrendous. Turning them around was one of the best coaching jobs anywhere in the last decade.

Yeah, I keep hearing his name and I don't get it either. Yeah, he won some games at Temple, but it's not like he beat top competition and it's not like he made them into a really successful program, like Schiano at Rutgers. Then he goes to Miami and does rather mediocre. And he doesn't even have major NCAA sanctions right now. Seems more like a Dooley than a real "up and comer" to me.
