Ouch... I will never forget sitting at lunch eating a lobster tail and seeing Tennessee hires Derek Dooley scroll across the screen.

I then knew we had fallen far.

You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about...Peterson, Patterson, Davis, Gruden and Cower were NEVER offered the job...Patterson's interest was gauged but he was never contacted not once throughout the process...Nor was Cower or Gruden or Kelly who was already the new coach at Notre Dame...All of this stuff is clearly documented if you had taken to time to do just a little homework...Muschamp was contacted and he turned us down but put Hamilton on the trail to Dooley...Calhoun turned us down because he was not choosen the first time around...Cutcliffe almost took the job but wanted to bring his own staff with him to UT and UT refused it so he declined...The bottom line was UT did not go all out trying to find a coach and needed to make a FAST hire in order to attempt to save the recruiting class they had...Thus they settled with Dooley...FACT :yes:

Everyone on the list was contacted and more. Most declined to be interviewed. Our job was a dumpster fire 3 yrs ago. Why do you think CDDs buy out is huge?

It is for a coordinator hired to be a new HC, but not one who is experienced as a HC and has a successful resume in the NFL.

Turning us down because the salary offer is budget-level, and asking that much of the current staff stay, is far different than being turned down when the AD says "Just name your price."

It's apples and oranges. Hamilton thought (after still having to pay Fulmer's buyout, and getting nothing from Kiffin's departure) he could find him another Bruce Pearl, but for the Football team.

He thought wrong. Dead wrong.

Coach Cut would have been a disastrous hire, IMO. There was a TON of backlash when the media first broke the word that he had been hired. Winning 4-5 games before you play the tougher teams in the ACC isn't impressive. Duke won't win another game this year, with what is left on their schedule.

Plus, the guy is so boring, he'd put half the team to sleep in pre-game pep talks.
