The key to Strong is look where UofL was when he got there. 4 win season, a talent less roster for the most part, players had quit on Crapthorpe. Now look at UofL 3 years later, vast improvements. Bowl game with a lot of freshman. Undefeated this year. The players would run through a wall for the guy. He might just barely be winning, but he's not losing is what I care about. Patterson isn't leaving anytime soon, Tressel is a bad idea.
You said recruiting and defense is what you like about Strong? That's what it takes to win in the SEC. Btw UofLs offense is pretty dang good, guess who brought in those guys? The guys he is pulling now, in the big east is pretty great recruiting. Now imagine him at UT in the SEC, his recruiting would be 4 times better. I really dont see the downside to hiring him. Oh and
he probably stay here a long time. High character guy too. I just think if we pass on him, in 5 years we will regret it. But that's just my thoughts. Lol
I agree with you on ALL accounts! Hate to see Charlie go but unlike a lot of Cards fans I know Louisville is NOT a destination stop when it comes to football. So UT would be a great stop for him. He has a TON of character which is another reason why he doesn't belong at Louisville. But unlike Dooley he is a proven winner.

Notre Dame is a perfect example of why I would love to have Charlie Strong. Brian Kelly did to Cincy what Strong has done a Louisville. Kelly took over ND and a few years later - BCS team. Same thing Strong but I think Strong will have the talent and bring the talent from the get go.
The most realistic and the most rewarding hire IMO
Kelly did have an extensive head coaching career before ND and Cincy so he had a record to back up his success. You don't have the same with Strong. Not saying Strong couldn't be a good coach, but somewhat hard to compare the two.
Welcome to VolNation, do you live in Louisville?
Yes.Born and raised (born and raised a Cards fan AND Kentucky hater also )
My wife is a HUGE UT fan and I just went along with it. Really became a huge fan when I experienced my first game in Neyland last year. Headed to Nashville for the Vandy game in a few weeks. Im looking forward to it despite how the season is going.:good!:
I've been here for about 6 years, I live in the highlands area. Love this part of town. I will say since I've lived here I've started pulling for the cards some, and my hatred for UK has grown. Glad your wife showed you the light. Lol jk
Your hatred will grow more the longer you have to live with them and see how they really are. What is sad is a lot of Louisville fans are starting to act just like them in their pompus attitudes. When my family went to the Montana game last year we just loved the pregame festivities and no schools band can hold a finger to The Pride of the Southland Band:thumbsup:
I doubt they'd be willing to pay 3.5-4mill to keep him as a HC in the Big East. That would be like us saying we'll pay NFL money to bring Gruden here. I don't see use paying more than 5.5-6mill for Gruden, even though that is crazy money for College. We'd still have to try and pay for the type of staff he'd want.Ask yourself why looie went to the press saying they will match any offer.
