The Impeachment Thread

Schiff should retire after letting Nadless outrun him. Two of the the many moronic dims that love to hear themselves talk thinking they’re actually doing some.

Hey, a Republican Senator just acknowledged that what Trump did was wrong. They can no longer claim this was a hoax or a sham. Trump did exactly what he was accused of doing. It just didn't justify his removal from office. That is more than I ever thought we would get.

That's one retiring senator. Don't expect Cruz, McConnell and the other sychophants to say anything like that. And don't expect this to be any constraint on Trump.

The silver lining is that the information will constantly trickle out from now until the election and this will continue to be something that can galvanize Democratic and Independent voters who overwhelmingly supported a real trial.

Yes... from a political standpoint, the way this has played out works just fine for Democrats. Every poll that I have seen shows that an overwhelming majority of American people (even a majority of Republicans) wanted witnesses to be called during the Senate Impeachment Trial. Once Bolton's book is published, and assuming that he has further implicated Trump, it will only look worse for Republicans who are still defending Trump's actions and didn't want witnesses to be called.

Evidence has been "trickling out" for over 3 years obviously at this rate the trickle should extend into President Trumps 3rd term

Hold on to that manuscript malfunction. Lol

if they keep on impeaching they will . The voters get tired of the political crap all the time . They have other duties they were put there to do besides Impeachment of the president.

I don't know. My pockets feel better when congress is doing nothing, and the stock market generally seems to agree. Besides it keeps a few hundred arrogant little pricks off the streets.

Self made moral victories....whatever helps you cope.

Ever heard of a trial being ended because the prosecutors were inept?

I served on a sequestered jury once; the trial ran for a week. The prosecutors presented their case; the lawyers for the defendants called one witness, and we were ushered out to the jury room. When we came back, the witness was gone, and the defendants' lawyers first asked for a dismissal which was rejected. Both sides did closing arguments, we decided not guilty in short order. The prosecutors may not have been inept, but they certainly had no case, and this impeachment seems no different than that trial.

So I actually just started watching this Senate speed dating show live in the last half hour.

Has Bug Eyes actually made a legal point in the last two days or just made emotional pleas and spin bad spy novels or is that all he’s got? 🤷‍♂️

I'm waiting for schiff to wipe the tears away and say he's taking his ball and going to the house ... then being reminded by a gop senator that they already took his balls.

Have you ever heard of a trial being ended because the prosecutors were correct, but the trial abruptly ended anyway because one juror didn't believe the guilty party should be punished at all? Read this portion of Senator Lamar Alexander's statement. These are the 2nd and 3rd tweets of Senator Alexander's 15 tweet statement, which was posted 3 hours ago:

"There is no need for more evidence to prove that the president asked Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter; he said this on television on October 3, 2019, and during his July 25, 2019, telephone call with the president of Ukraine." 2/15

"There is no need for more evidence to conclude that the president withheld United States aid, at least in part, to pressure Ukraine to investigate the Bidens; the House managers have proved this with what they call a "mountain of evidence." 3/15

The second part of your statement has more weight than anything anyone else is even talking about right now. Republicans are so busy defending Trump and towing the party line they're literally not paying attention to the American public.

Alexander's statement is such a complete departure from what the Republican defense has been up until now... throw in the fact that they blocked a witness with firsthand knowledge from testifying and it's not a good look for Republicans... especially if Bolton's book contains what The New York Times has reported. They will take a political hit for this. We have such a short news cycle, though. We will probably be talking about some other new Trump scandal a month from now.

Several friends and I just thought witnesses would make the sham shite show at least entertaining enough to be worth watching and if asked would have said yes to a pollster. Wonder how many other folks feel that way and got polled.

Neither side is paying attention to the American public. They don't care about the public. As I said in a previous post, both sides will claim victory from this. The election will tell us who truly won.

Sadly, it's the American public who has lost the most as we see our government slide even further into political games, rather than having actual issues addressed. The power struggle takes precedence over the country. And many people follow blindly along behind their party's banner, none the wiser to what's going on. Bleating sheep, continuing to spout the party line, unable to see they're being lied to. Government is no longer about serving the people. It's nothing but a battle over who's in charge.
