The Impeachment Thread

Which side is playing the soundbite game and which side is advocating to release all the testimony?
There will be public testimony in mid November.

But since your want to use such a silly defense, which side is focused on fact finding and which side is trying to attack the credibility of those testifying?

Yeah, they're doing some serious fact finding by interviewing people that heard stories about the phone call after the transcript of it is available for everyone to read.

Ok, imagine being a witness in a trial related to your job. Would you find it strange for the witness to wear a suit?

This article just shows how Breitbart is such a joke.

This is the talking point they trotted out? The active duty army officer showed up to a Congressional hearing in uniform.

Let that sink in.

The defense talking point pool is getting shallower by the second.

"Top Democrats" say his testimony is "extremely disturbing" LOL. When have they ever said otherwise about anything related to Trump?
What else were they going to say? Meh there really wasn't much to this guys testimony, big waste of our time? Haha. These idiots on here will buy every word of it though

Yep. That's what they got. The dude looked professional and that's somehow bad. But dodging the draft because of bone spurs is super cool.

Here is the coming GOP argument:

1) sure, the President engaged in what can be construed as overstep, possibly abuse, of his power
2) his intentions with regards to his 2020 campaign cannot be fully known, however, based on the existing evidence
3) therefore, while this behavior was unfortunate, it is not impeachable

At worst the GOP offers some light admonishment in the Senate and this is all water under the bridge by January.

The only thing the left really gains is not having to hear their most partisan supporters call for impeachment during an election year. That isn't nothing. If Pelosi had not pushed this forward, the activist left would likely be on the sidelines in 2020.

If you'd take your head out of the sand, you see that the impeachment case is getting better all the time.

The two most common Republican defenses from the start were:

1) The Ukraine government wasn't aware that Trump had placed a hold on the military aid prior to the July 25th phone call between Trump and Zelenskyy. So, that aid couldn't have ever been used as leverage to secure an investigation into the Bidens. However, Bill Taylor blew that one out of the water during his testimony.

2) The whistleblower complaint and all of the testimony given so far was based on hearsay. That has gone away now as well.

Yes, things are looking better and better.

Was listening to Pod Save America the other day and this was exactly their take. Instead of admitting the facts upfront and trying to soften the blow they've retreated to extreme positions because the Trump code of bootlicking requires a concede nothing approach. That makes it hard to take serious any attempt to now soften the blow.

Democrats need to make the best case possible against Trump and when Corey Gardner and Susan Collins (who are both in states that Trump lost in 2016), vote to acquit? Democrats need to pound that point home in Colorado and Maine next year. They are both up for reelection. I think Gardner is French toast.

Isn't it freedom toast. I thought the GOP banished all things French back in lead up to the Iraq war.

The 3 possibles are Romney, Collins, and Murkowski.
