The Impeachment Thread

You remember when basically every Democrat in the world accused Kavanaugh of being a rapist with absolutely no evidence? Good times.

Oh, I remember, but in that case he at least had an accuser, and a handful of other accusations,.as well. My gripe wasn't that he was necessarily guilty, but that the Senate Republicans were acting like they were racing against a clock to confirm. They reluctantly agreed along with Trump to do a quick FBI investigation. Turns out the investigation was a sham, as they didn't interview all witnesses that were willing to corroborate some of the accounts.

I'm not saying the dork wagging in some girls face in college, or underage binge drinking would be disqualifying, but he knew that after testifying that it didn't happen, his confirmation would be in jeopardy. I think most in the Senate did too.

But it'll be the same fun from the other side soon enough.

The only sham was the accusation and the dim circus that followed.

WGAF? What was there to investigate? It’s not like there were tons of credible witnesses including the accuser who didn’t know jack s***. The dims were focused on yearbooks and slang fart words.

I don't care enough to argue about it.

You literally can not make this stuff up...just read on Twitter that Dems are saying that they let the GOP build the quid pro quo talking points..that they..meaning the Dems were pushing bribery and extortion crimes all the time
Numerous of us have been saying that on this forum the entire time. “No quid pro quo” was the manufactured republican defense before it crumbled. Now they’re resorting to incompetence.

I think you said the same thing when I LOL'ed at your prediction of the Muell taking Trump down.

This is all political theater and Nancy will drag it out as long as she can and there will not be an impeachment vote. Also don't be surprised when she loses the house next Nov.

What Mueller gathered and shared should have been more than enough to move Americans even on the republican side. What was clearly underestimated was the amount of Trump supporters who are just completely incapable of free thinking. The really sad truth of the problem is that Trump has now not only committed a crime in dealing with Ukraine but he confessed to it on camera right there on the White House lawn. Trump's chief of staff then got on camera and admitted to committing the crime. You basically don't even need the whistleblower at this point. The idiot committed a crime and confessed to it and you and the rest of the slow folks are in here arguing about it like it didn't happen. THAT is what is sad.

Not to mention the carnage that would occur in the stock market.

That fear mongering is less scary than BS trade wars and threating everyone with tariffs. You know, the things that have actually caused carnage in the market this year.

Carnage? Dow just hit a new high the other day. It’s fluctuated no more than a couple of percentage points leading up to the extension of the rally.

So, you guys wanted the whistleblowers name, and you got it. For what? To formally accuse his attorney of starting a coup in a two year old Twitter post, and insinuate that he is a pedo, with basically no evidence...

Yeah, you guys really win the day..
As long as Trump is the President, we win every day

LOL. Please tell me you don't manage your own money. Not that I really care about your finances, but this market has been a bonanza not seen since the gold rush. Or maybe you misused the word 'carnage'.

Then get on Nancy’s azz about holding an impeachment vote. When that vote never happens who ya going to be mad at then?

We Shouldn't Impeach Trump On the Basis of Flawed Legal Theory — TIME

Probably closest to where I stand....Action’s were wrong, but not criminally impeachable. So if we continue to impeach on wrongful actions as opposed to criminal ones, we may never have another un-impeached president (at least by the House).

After watching all of the dog and pony shows I don’t know why anyone would want to be president and I can’t imagine having so many people watching your every move waiting for you to slip up .

If we accept this as the norm, there will never be an impeachable president. With Trump it would be acceptable to live stream National Security Briefings.

The thing I wonder about is what is the “norm?” Nobody knows how previous administrations operated behind the scenes. But there are glimpses from Obama, Bush, Clinton administrations. But there was never the level of personal disdain for them to actually have people trying to shine a bright light inside. Maybe if there were investigations into all previous administrations, we would find out that Trump is doing “normal” presidential things in a completely unpresidential manner. So, are we impeaching someone not for what they did, but the way they did it.

The "norm" is always changing. The norm in the 90's is not the norm of today. It's a gradual change and what this President is doing is well outside what is the "norm" of today. If it ever becomes the "norm" to subvert our own laws about investigating our citizens, there will be nothing left.
