The Iraq War has cost 3 trillion dollars

Was the Iraq War worth the cost (3 trillion)?

We told the inspectors to get out only after he was in violation for the 14th time. How many chances is he supposed to get? I do not know how many times he denied entry to inspectors but it was more than just a few times. Here is an analogy. It was a part of the cease fire that he habitually violated. Sending inspectors to sight after sight only to be turned away is stupid. If he would have allowed them to do their job there would have been no reason to go in.

I thought the UN was bogus.....................

Now the UN is used as gospel to invade a country......

The amount of violations is irrelevant, how many times has Israel (among others, it just happens to be the most glaring example I can think of) violated? My point is we were going in regardless.

You are one of those.......

Ok, so my point is that yes, while there has been political motivation behind some of these decisions, I still think going into Iraq was the right decision.

Just ask those people that live there if our presence has made any difference at all in their day to day lives.

Also, emain, are you a democrat or a Libertarian?

OE pretty much answered in the way I would have to the first part of your post.

I consider myself a democrat, although I am probably a bit left of most. I do share a lot of views with Libertarians, naturally most of them are on social issues.

Isn't a bit left of Democrat Socialism?

What are these social issues you are libertarian on?

haha, can we just make an "Ask Emain" thread?

To answer your question, things like decriminalization of drugs, amongst others.

OK. But when you hold those views do you also support the government getting the heck out of funding healthcare and such things?

I don't think that the government should give hand-outs to those that do not make an attempt to support themselves, however, I am in an age group that has one of the lowest percentage of the insured. I think that people that are in school and working, or those that can actually show an attempt to support themselves and their family should be given help in regards to healthcare.

Is that a good answer?

I just think if you are going to take a hands off approach in social issues then your belief in government financial support should follow. If we are going to let people live, be free and make stupid decisions...then I don't want to pay for them.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

You are a frustrating one, you know exactly what the right thing to do is but you want the government to be the answer!

I will motivate and teach you emain!

Oh believe me, that was only the surface of my thoughts, but I can see where you are coming from. I do not think that rehab, or health problems directly stemming from drug abuse should be covered in any government aided health plan.

I don't want the government to be the answer, but I also don't want to blow 150 dollars a month on a health plan that doesn't give me good coverage. My options considering the money I make are limited, and I don't think that's right. Maybe it's just selfishness on my part.

Basically what I am saying is that I don't mind the prospect of paying for a health plan, as long as it is reasonably priced and at least provides decent coverage.

If you think about 150 dollars a month for healthcare is cheap.

:)

Advice. Get away from company provided healthcare and find some privately purchased version you can afford. Ever researched it?

I am working on it, I am in the midst of budgeting for the coming semesters. I have been out of school for a while and don't know what kind of hit I am going to take financially when I am back full time.
