Welfare is a lifestyle, why would any one want to get off if they have no reason no to?

I worked some front line supervisory jobs in my younger days. Was in charge of making some rather uneducated and poor people be productive. I would not believe some of the beliefs of those people if I had not heard them with my own ears.

I would be willing to give it a try. If it works than it would be a good thing for sure. I have no problem paying into a privatized system from a personal stand point. I have learned a lot from some of you since I first entered the political forum.

We were attacked by terrorist. Iraq harbors terrorists, any country that harbors, trains, recruits, etc is an enemy of ours.

And by the way, Iraq has not been a friend to the US. Anyone here remember the assassination attempt on the first Pres Bush?

It was time for us to take care of business that should of been taken care of when Clinton had the floor but I guess that is a totally different show all together...

Again, Iraq did not attack us, and you still have not presented anything to the contrary.

When did I say Iraq was a friend?

I also have a problem with the whole "harboring terrorist" argument, because there are quite a lot of countries that have done a lot more to help terrorists out than Iraq did.

I am defending our presence in Iraq.

Whether or not the terrorist from 9-11 came from Iraq or trained in Iraq makes zero difference to me. What does matter to me is that Bush 1 promised the people of Iraq that we would help them acquire freedom from under that tyrant Saddam Hussein. Well Clinton won the race for Pres and canned that idea. In turn, all those people that rose up against SH were tortured and killed b/c Clinton did not see it as a priority to keep our promise to the Iraqian people. Innocent men, women and children along with a promise from our former president are reason enough for me.

So ya, it makes no difference to me if the terrorist from 9-11 were born in Iraq. By the way, Germany never attacked us either, they were attacking our allies so we in turn attacked them. We defend people who want to live free.

I suppose sitting on our thumbs while innocent people die for trying to exercise freedom is the way to go...

No way around it, I am die hard conservative as the next person but Iraq is, was and will be a cluster _ _ _ _.

Lord knows we should have never went in but now that we are there what do we do?

I don't think pulling out is an option..........

you don't want to go there, because if that is really what you think I want, I would be glad to give you a history lesson on the blind eye turned by our leaders, and other world leaders to many, many atrocities

Do we leave emain?

I think pretty much everyone agrees now that there was shoddy planning. I think if we leave we could end up with another Rwanda on our hands, and I certainly don't want that. I would like to see the allies that we do have in the middle east pick up some of the slack, and would also like to see the training of Iraqi police and military personnel be stepped up. Short answer no, we don't leave yet, at least not a complete exit.

What do you want to say? What is your problem with what I am saying? Go ahead, I'm listening...

That is a fair answer. I believe that we counted on the common Iraqi to step up for their country. What we didn't count on was a people so demoralized from years under Sadam unwilling or unable to take ownership of their countries future. That would fall under poor planning in my opinion. Should have understood the dynamics of the situation there before commiting to a plan and implementing it.

I know I am having a bad week, that is the second time we have agreed on something.
