The Kentucky Postgame Report

For every positive play Tatum - had he had at least 1 terrible play to off-set it the positive.

That is more than you can say about McCrae/Golden, is it not?

Look who he was matched up against, all things considered, he played well ( well, meaning okay ).

I can't understand how you are looking at this.

Cam is Cam, always has been, you get what you get.

He never ( I either ) said he played great but consideing how a few of the other player performed, I think it's okay to mention Cam in a positive way today.

I'm looking at this from #2 in the OP. He wasn't our worst player. But his best performance? Lol.

Eh...

Not sure about best performance either, but against the number two team and matched up against a future top ten pick, I'll take what he gave.

MKG shooting % wasn't all on Tatum - he got tons of help around the basket from our big men.

Agree, but I thought Tatum did a good job making sure every shot was a tough one when he got the ball.

Not my definition of "well"

Semantics

Well, when I post my opinion, it's just that, mine, everyone has a differing view...nothing wrong with that.

Considering the competition and how a few of our players absolutely did nothing, Cam player well.

ESPN just showed highlights of the game and they made absolutely no mention of Stokes. Douchebag Gottlieb said Kentucky simply "put it on Tennessee" in the second half.

Getting behind by 8 and then clawing back for a 3 point lead is "putting it on Tennessee"? :eek:lol:

How about the people in Knoxville and surrounding areas actually going to games. That was embarrassing.

Yeah 21,678 for a noon basketball game is embarrassing. Quit talking out your arse about things you know absolutely nothing about. The only thing embarrassing is people that didn't go to the game like you complaining about the people that did.

How about you guys settle this argument about Tatum by answering this question instead of pointing out how many good plays and bad plays he made. Every game players have both.

Did Tatum's play make this game closer or did it make us lose the game?

One we got to 54 points, we had a string of bad possessions. Two straight bricked 3s and then turnovers.

Gottlieb is terrible. He spent the first few minutes of halftime complaining about a good call. He kept going on and on about Stokes moving to his left, even though the video showed Stokes was set just before Teague left the floor to shoot.

When half of them are Kentucky fans, it's embarrassing

Jarnell Stokes is one heck of a talent. Was he too gassed to play for more than thirty seconds over the final four minutes, though? Today, he was obviously our best offensive weapon and his defense and rebounding were great as well. Once this kid is conditioned, he will do great things (and, then jump to the Association).

1. I think it was conditioning

2. Jarnell was lost on defense sometimes (though he did a great job considering the situation) and I don't think CCM wanted a defensive breakdown late in such a close game.

Were you there? NO you weren't. It wasn't half Kentucky fans not even close. It was a great atmosphere but you wouldn't know. What was embarrassing exactly? Please do tell from afar

Watching on TV, there was a lot more of that other color than I would have liked to see, but it was nowhere near half. That's to be expected though. I doubt a lot of our fans were running to the ticket counter during our December losing streak.

I was told a 4k to 6k estimation. Agree?

I'll agree, Cam appeared efficient offensively, but he makes so many bad decisions that don't show up in the box score, and let's be honest, 5 of his 16 points came in the final minute, 2 of which came on an uncontested dunk at the buzzer.

Without reviewing the game again, I would bet the majority of his missed shots were bad shots. He cannot feed the post. He cannot finish at the rim. He made bad defensive gambles, got beat on back door cuts, didn't rebound well (which he typically does).

There is plenty of blame to go around (Woolridge was awful, Golden was pretty bad, Kenny has to learn to keep the ball high and in in his chest), but Cam didn't play smart. He may have finished well statistically, but he made some mental errors that won't show up in the box score and negatively affected our team.

1. Jarnell Stokes is going to be a star. Not only that, I love his patience on offense, and he has the ability to pass the ball. He made 3 or 4 nice passes. He's going to be great.

2. Cam Tatum left everything on the floor today. That was the best game he has played this year.

3. Trae Golden just gave us nothing today. I don't know what it is was, but UT cannot have that kind of play if they are going to have a winning record in the SEC.

4. Quite simply, Kentucky's D was just too good. UT just wasn't able to get enough points on the board to win the game.

5. Kenny Hall continues to play really well of the bench. Hopefully he continues to give that energy.

6. I don't know why they didn't get the ball down low to Maymon more. He had a mismatch.

7. Tough, tough game. The kids played hard, but Kentucky is just better. Need to get that road win against Georgia.

i really agree pretty much with all points. alot of people are bashing #2 but even though he didnt play extrememly well, find a game in which he played better this year? you cant. he played hard and hit some shots but also continues to make dumb mistakes that quite simply a senior should not be making.

The fact that this is considered his best game says more about the rest of his season than it does about how well he played today.
