The Kentucky Postgame Report

I was told a 4k to 6k estimation. Agree?

I would say that's about right. I was thinking about 25% or so with 30% the max. About the same percentage of blue here for bk as there is orange in Lexington for football.

The fact that this is considered his best game says more about the rest of his season than it does about how well he played today.

haha yea this is true. it cant go unnoticed that he led the team with 16 points and was 3-6 though from 3 in this game, sadly enough without him we lose this game by more than 3. once again the problem is who do you play right now, mcrae? that kid has got some serious issues that i will never know the answer to. hopefully stokes is ready for a full load sooner rather than later, thats the only hope as far as tatum is concerned.

I have no problem with Tatum playing as our only option, but I would prefer to see him eliminate the stupid mistakes, understand his role and play within himself.

Not much to say, other than the fact that Gilchrist and Davis are pillars. Place those two on any .500 squad and they immediately become contenders for league titles and a deep NCAA run. They are ballers, they are fighters, and they are consistent. If Terrence Jones had the work ethic and drive of MKG, then he would be unstoppable.

unfortunately after 5 years the chances of that happening are now pretty small. hoepfully he will be seeing the bench soon, and we will no longer have to see nearly as many of these stupid mistakes.

i was gonna say MKG and davis should both be top 5 picks next year. MKG probably wont be but if i was a gm he would deserve a long hard look. i really like(thats har to say) him and am surprised he is on UK, not your typical cal recruit. he actually seems to have a work ethic and some intelligence about him.

I think it has been more obvious this year because of our lack of star power and his feeling the need to take on the leadership role as a senior. He is trying to help by doing more, but doesn't realize it is hurting his team.

yes this is very true he somehow had someone more frustrating and underachieving playing beside him in scotty hop.

Yep, Kenny Hall gave up at least 4 easy lay up points by not secuing the ball near the basket. Jarnell has savvy. Something many of the guards lack. Cam just doesn't have "it." He would be a good 6 man. Jarnell was instantly your best scorer, passer, and rebounder. Not to mention he made everyone else play better. Cuonzo needs to find him help with either a legit scoring guard or pure point.

cam was always better as a 6 man it seemed than as a starter. hopefully within the next week he will be back to that role.

There's no way you can honestly tell me the minimal practice Stokes got on Friday prepared him to be able to play against UK - and that he couldn't have played just as well versus MSU two days earlier.

We win vs. Mississippi State if Martin sucks it up and plays Stokes Thursday night. That 1 practice didn't get him ready for SEC play. Seems like Martin was just being stubborn.

How about not throwing him on the road for his first career game?

Not too mention he might have learned the plays better, the defense, etc.

"It definitely was big for me to make my first shot," he said. "I didn't realize how much the bumping and grinding and noise of the game would affect me, but it's just something I'll have to get used to."- Jarnell Stokes.

And that was at TBA.

i think he wanted to make sure he was physically ready without a doubt so that there was absolutely no increased risk of injury. the other part is he clearly still doesnt know much about the way the offense or defense is doing at times. everytime he went to the bench his seat was next to jon harris who had a clip board and was teaching him thinks in game. i agree with the way ccm handled this.

This also.

Sorry - but one day of a very shortened practice didn't prepare him anymore. He was clearly lost out there today when it came to defense and plays on offense - he could have done just as well versus a weaker front line thursday night.

I didn't see Stokes lost on D any more than anyone else and don't remember specific lapses.

I think he was just not in there because it was his first game and CM wasn't comfortable.

Completely agreed. He looked game ready. Fabulous showing.
