The Kentucky Postgame Report

Adding a potential NBA talent - no matter how young or inexperienced to our front court isn't really taking a big risk - I mean my god we're under .500 and we've only played 3 SEC games.

I'm sure CCM is worried about fans ripping him in year one for a loss to MSU due to inserting a 5-star recruit - definitely. Can't imagine how worried he would be if his team were to lose to the Austin Peay's of the CBB world.

Stokes isn't going to let a bad first game determine his entire week, month, season, or career so that's just a cop out imo.

He was a bit of a different situation not having played competitive ball in 6 months. If he'd have came as a graduated senior and had the off season yea start him from day one but he came straight out of the gym.

Of course we know that now...we didn't know that two nights ago.

We're giving Renald Woolridge significant minutes at the 4 - these are different circumstances. If we were any other team in the SEC I'd agree with you.

Actually I don't think Woolridge has seen 10 minutes at the 4 in the last 2 games combined. He plays the 5 99% of the time now.

How about the people in Knoxville and surrounding areas actually going to games. That was embarrassing.

Tennessee has beaten ky more than any other sec team yet our fans act like we have no shot. A little more fan participation and make TBA a fierce home court advantage we may beat them even more. I would tear my tickets up or give them to some kids wanting to watch the Vols play before i would sell any to Ky fan. Go Vols and for the O&W fans that showed up nice job giving your all. Except for the man & women who sat in front of us who thought it was sunday & church was in service.

Understanding an out of shape, inexperienced 6'8 hoss is an upgrade over a weakling Woolridge in the post is also a good thing.

Once again Woolridge doesn't play stokes position, it'd have been hall you were leaping over.

Another thing is how does it look to the rest of the team when ccm preaches hard work in practice will get you pt and then you let a kid come in with less than a week of practice and take minutes away. That would look completely terrible to the rest of the team and would no longer hold any water when he said things.

Once again - we don't have a true center - so all of our posts are interchangeable. And Martin will likely adjust that to his liking - probably meaning less Woolridge down the stretch.

As for your second paragraph - Stokes did just that today.. so I'm not sure what you're trying to argue there.

Also, Stokes didn't get official clearance to play till Thursday morning. CCM probably already had his rotation set, told the team, and didn't want to put Jarnell in a whirlwind situation.

He had another day of practice and sat on the bench go an entire game that means something to his teammates. Also like zjc just stated he wasn't even officially cleared until that morning. All of these things add up to it just not being te greatest of ideas to throw him out there.

That extra day of minimal practice and sitting on the bench for 1 game sure proved a point. Showed how tough Cuonzo really is.

The only logical reason for not playing him versus MSU yet playing him versus UK is the fact that he was completely cleared that morning. The other stuff holds no weight considering the team didn't get back till 3am and barely even held a practice when preparing for UK on Saturday.

It either came down to that fact that he was cleared so late - or CCM was being stubborn and was just trying to prove a point yet he gave in anyway by playing him less than 48 hours later.

That is fair enough.

Sorry forgot to add no homo, I'm sounding like Sandusky over here.
