Morey went with youth since he's 3 years younger than DK.
Does that make sense? You can only control a player for 4 years, so you should get the best player, even if he's 3 yrs. older. You could make the case that DK will be approaching or in his prime in 4 years and McCain may still be a couple of years away.

I kind of like a comparison to Allan Houston. Houston was smoother in his play, but he was the same sort of three level scorer with sneaky athleticism and a great shooter.

Excellent comparison. They even move alike. Loved to watch Majerle. I remember Thunder Dan as a high flying, rim-attacking demon, not a great 3-pt. shooter. He did shoot just a shade over 35% from 3 for his career, which is pretty good, but averaged only 4 3-pt. attempts per game. While a very athletic rim-attacker, I think DK will shoot near 40% from 3, and attempt more than 7 3's/gm. making him more of a 3 pt. threat than Thunder Dan. Time will tell.
In phoenix he was more well rounded (youth) but definitely a clutch 3 point shooter. He had a weird set pf circumstances. Remember the 3 pointer was introduced his junior year in college. The concept of shooting threes was still sort of new in the NBA and then in phoenix he played with a lot of other 3 point shooters. Jeff Hornacek, Steve Kerr, Eddie Johnson, Tom Chambers (surprisingly), Danny Ainge and Charles Barkley. Barkley and Chambers were not accurate but shot a lot of 3''s. They were about a lot of guys shooting sone 3's instead pf focusing on one. Also his four 3 point attempts per game is misleading.

Remember when he came to the league, three-pointers were still novel. In his first four seasons, 88-92, he was a sixth man. Starting in 92, it all changed, as he was a starter. He was jacking 500+ a year and at a high percentage. The one big difference, though, is Majerle was a very strong defensive player. He made all-defense second team twice and came up 5th in DPOY voting one year. For his era, Majerle was a three-point assassin. Prime Majerle in Phoenix was shooting 35-38% for a 6 year stretch and eh sliiped in 2 more years over 36% in Miami near the end.

I just wish most of the Lakers games didn't start at like 10:30. That's the one thing that keeps me from being invested, I can't watch the majority of the games.
Yep I’m hoping to catch some earlier games perhaps on the weekends.Being an old timer that’s a little late for me.😴

I think he’s in the rotation. Probably late 1st quarter or early 2nd.

I don’t expect he’ll have a special night. I hope he can just knock down a few 3-pointers and not be a liability. It’s going to be his first game and might try to do too much after that huge pre-season performance last week.

I hope the staff has his bearings corrected on preseason competition vs NBA.

True, but they are about the same size, athletic, that can feel it up from the 3 point line. Plus, they both have a lot a Dog in 'em and enjoy dunking on people
I’d give him a minute to develop his passing skills. Not sure where Manu was rated regarding his various skillz but guessing he honed them all as he spent time with Pop.

I have to say, I'm excited to watch Dalton, tonight. I want him matched-up against Divincenzo. He's not as big as Knecht, but I think they have similar games. DD is probably a better defender, but I think Knecht can use his size and cook him
