The Mandalorian

There was an audible gasp by all of my kids when...

The Razor Crest blew up. That was perhaps the most unexpected thing that could have happened. Even more so than Grogu getting captured... Shame. Santa is bring one of my kids the Lego Razor Crest this year. And it’s no more.
I let out a hearty "oh no!!" myself

He just set it down by the rock. I thought it was an odd request he remove it. Really that was just so he wouldn’t have it on for the climax of the episode. It made no sense that he didn’t put it back on.
Yeah, that was a definite plot device to nerf him a little bit

Me too. Also watching the prequels with my kids who enjoy them at face value and not as cynical adult fans gave me a different perspective on them. It’s a shame it took a 7 season animated show to flesh them out though. Some people refuse to watch it just because it’s animated.

I admittedly almost didn't watch it because of it being animated. After watching it, though, I realized it isn't just some silly cartoon just for kids. It's an enjoyable show for any Star Wars fan IMO.

I enjoy animation so that didn’t deter me at first. The movie that introduced Ahsoka was not great by any means though. After that I had no interest in the show when it launched shortly after. I would catch articles about it here and there and was aware it was pretty popular. I remember hearing they were brining Maul back but still didn’t jump on board. It wasn’t until Netflix had all of them that I finally made the effort to watch them. In fact I think it took Ahsoka appearing on Rebels, which I was watching with my kids, to really push me to watch CW.

My guess is starkiller.

Yes he is legend now and not canon and supposedly dead in legend lore but clearly this team is rewriting canon and Disney has given them lead way.
If I had to bet money my guess would be Ezra from the Rebels show, but..........
How awesome would it be if Mace Windu isn't dead! He would've known Grogu from the Jedi temple. And now that Boba is helping out, how will he handle meeting/working with the man that killed his father?

I’m down with this theory.

This could be very plausible.

Overall a great episode but that part was pretty bad writing, and also I thought him going back 2-3 times to try and get Grogu was written badly considering he did the exact same thing, even almost had the same dialouge. It almost looked like they filmed the same scene a few times and decided to just use both of them.

The Mandalorian is the best Star Wars franchise I've seen since the originals.
I’m not a Star Wars guy. I’ve seen all the movies one time each. Never really cared about it, though. But The Mandalorian has become mandatory watching on Friday evenings for me. It’s probably the best thing on right now.

Since this is the current de facto SW thread, has anyone watched the Lego SW Holiday Special?

I was playing the SYSK episode about the original Holiday Special from back in 2015. They were saying Life Day happens every 3 years. So if the origin point for us was 1978 that put it happening this year. Which made me wonder if that is why they did the Lego one this year.

So Happy belated Life Day everyone 😂😂

it was silly, my boy isn't old enough yet (you should have gotten the Christmas card by now), and girls just arent into it enough.

Man the Lego thing is silly. Lol

Santa is bringing our girls stuffed plush Grogu dolls. And the boy gets stuffed Mando.

That was odd and stood out to me as well

There's a pretty compelling thread on Reddit about this.

That would be a serious plot twist though.

Seems like I read somewhere fairly recently that Sam Jackson asked Lucas if Mace survived the fall in EIII and Lucas said “Yeah sure. Why not.”

Of course it’s up to Disney if they really want to do anything with that.

Two cult figures from the SW universe in the same episode? Boba and Mace?

The nerd-gasms will be epic.

How old would Windu be now? Seems like he'd be up there depending on how old he was supposed to be in the prequel trilogy.

It’s been 15 years real time since EIII came out? And about 30 years in SW time. Wouldn’t have to age him too much I imagine. But surely he was injured to point that kept him out of the fray all this time.

So I couldn’t sleep and went down a strange YouTube rabbit hole. Started with a video on the set FX of the show....

Then I found this cool fan made Spaghetti Western trailer...

Which led to this 80’s Synth version of the main theme...

Then this Lo-Fi hip hop version...

Which somehow brought me to this random shizz 😂😂😂

I think that’s roughly right. The Mandalorian is right after the fall of the Empire which is 4-5 years after the Death Star was blown up the first time by Luke who was about 20 years old and born in Ep3. Mace Windu is maybe 70-80ish.

I just wondered because in A New Hope Obi-Wan is what, in his 60s and they act like he can barely move and Windu has to be older than that.

So, with Jackson being 71, he could fit into that role if they wanted.

It's a long shot, but damn, what a good one it could be
