The Mandalorian

I think a live action Grand Admiral Thrawn is imminent, it will be interesting to see who they get. I think Jeremy Irons would be fantastic in the role.

He's getting some age on him, but 20 years ago, he would have totally been the one.

Another name I saw mentioned at one point that I feel could completely rock it would be Tom Hiddleston. He's already part of the Disney family and he does a great bad guy you can't stand but like kind of like Thrawn.

I've also seen Jason Isaacs mentioned. He could pull it off too. He has that look. Also Pierce Brosnan, though I'm not sure about that.

One person that I think would completely kill it would be Daniel Craig.

ETA: I think Jude Law would be great as well.

I think Thrawn will be a an over arching villain for the 3 shows in the Mando time. They will lead up to a big event with him acting as their Thanos.

Honestly my favorite Star Wars character all time is Ahsoka tano. Seeing her and bo katan in this series has been just plain awesome, I don’t give a sh** if they’re female. Great show, can’t wait for more!
never been into the cartoons. gotta buddy that's seen all them. sounds like i missed out.

agree on female characters

Give the clone wars series a shot. The character arcs of anakin and Ahsoka, the way it expands on maul and order 66, so many things are so well done. But I know animation isn’t for everyone.

Something I've seen pop up as well is Benedict Cumberbatch being mentioned as a possible Thrawn.

And yeah I'm seeing a lot of talk of him being a super villain over all 3 shows. Mandalorian will focus on the war around Mandalor, Rangers will focus on military stuff like the bases being taken out in the last couple episodes around the outer rim, and Ashoka will focus on tracking down Ezra and Thrawn himself. Then about 2 seasons in all 3 will combine (like the arrow verse tv shows or avengers) and culminate with a huge battle for Mandalor.

I thought Cumbernbach would be a good Thrawn. His Khan was very Thrawn-ish... minus the blue skin of course.

He’ll have to have that calm demeanor they established in Rebels.

On a side note:
What are the chances we see Rex on an episode? It was confirmed he was on Endor. No reason he’s not still kicking somewhere.

And would Temuera Morrison play him 😁

Would be funny to see him and Boba on screen together.

absolutely no reason not to

it would be cool to do, stuff like that is easy, plus a lot of time they'd be in armor

My advice on the clone wars is to watch them in chrological order. Star Wars: The Clone Wars Chronological Episode Order | StarWars.com. Get through the first couple of seasons and then it gets REALLY good.

I wasn't a huge fan of the animation style on Rebels, but I'm glad I stuck with it. Some great stories and you get some more insight into Ashoka. Good stuff.

This. I watched TCW in release order first and was like "Wut..." a few times. Then I went back and watched it in the proper order and found what I was missing.

Disney+ actually put the MCU movies into "watch order" so here's hoping they might do the same for The Clone Wars eventually.

Rebels had a brighter color palette and definitely seemed more Disney-esque. Although it actually used a lot of the original Ralph McQuirrie designs. The Ghost was original Falcon and Zeb was Chewbacca. There was an assassin droid in one of the last seasons that used the original C3P0 design.

I grew to really like the style. Especially the thin lightsabers and the elongated Vader mask.

I'm almost through the second season of The Clone Wars. It's taken me forever but I usually watch it in small bursts. It's pretty good. I mean obviously it's not as epic as the movies and there are some silly moments but it's a solid gap-filler.

I need to speed up though, I wanted to get through all the existing animated shows before the new ones come out and I have a good ways to go.

Fist couple of seasons seem more like an anthology of little vignettes during the War. It’s sold but not a cohesive narrative for a series.

Mid 3rd season is when it really takes off. The episode order straightens out and it gets more fluid. The last arc of S7 is definitely epic. Granted that just came out this year.

My opinion, the best arcs were the Mortis episodes, the invasion of Umbara and Invasion of Mandalore.

Mortis was weird. I would say that was definitely some of Lucas’ more zany ideas.

The Umbara story with Krell was dark.

See, I liked the Mortis arc because it basically canonized Anakin being the Chosen One and showed the beginnings of his fall to the dark side.

Until Abrams and company decided to say "eff canon, we're doing whatever we want."

It was good but it was just kinda strange for Star Wars. Like meeting God or something. I felt the same way about the Night Sisters and Mother Talzan too.

I liked that they revisited the concept of Mortis on Rebels.

Speaking of “out there” concepts for Star Wars, when will we see the World between Worlds again?

Maybe they can use it as a plot line to say "yeah, Episodes VII to IX were like an alternate future that Ezra Bridger saw in a dream while flying through space with his purrgil. Ha ha, j/k we're going to come up with something better."

They did it with Star Trek.
I’d rather see a different take on the first three.
Introduce Anakin at the same age we meet Luke. That Anakin in the first movies was the worst decision that led to a series of bad ones.
