Hey, if Trump broke the law he should be punished. The problem I have is that long arm of the law, and investigations of potential wrongdoing, only seem to extend in one direction. Go after them all equally. And in a perfect world people would put their politics aside and simply apply the law but when it comes to these political figures neither side is able to put politics aside and never will.

Happens a lot in prosecutions of mafia types. It doesn't mean the defense doesn't know who he actually is. It just means his real name won't be released to the public or contained in trial records.

Everyone declaring this to be an abuse of legal process needs to hold on. Everyone gets the right to an automatic appeal to either a state court of appeals or a federal court of appeals. I'm told it's not like the Supreme Courts (both state and fed) where you apply for the right to appeal there and they grant it or refuse. This is an automatic right.

Courts of Appeal are multiple judges hearing each case. If they uphold the conviction and the Supreme Court says they don't need to hear it, then this guy really is guilty under the law. I like to wait for the final determination.

Surely you guys don't distrust the legal system, after all the right wing says it works perfectly when you want to put someone to death.

You clearly do not understand the situation. If they are going this route, there can NEVER be another republican in the white house, unless they are part of the establishment tribe or at least whom they think will not make too many actual waves. They will stop at absolutely nothing to keep that power. There is no chance of Trump winning this election no matter what the results or how people actually vote. We have a coup detat, where the palace mandarins have already taken over and they cannot afford to allow anyone to get in who threatens their hold.

I wish that were true but I do not think so. Most GOP are too spineless to go to war through the courts. Make no mistake, the left is at war, Republicans are not. That is why they are losing. It is only going in one direction. Until they make the other side bleed (metaphorically) and push them back, there can be no hope of a truce where people are allowed to be at peace.

Of course, but why not bring reality into the grand jury process and not waste time and money or drag someone's reputation through the mud on frivolous political cases or poor decisions? This political BS is nothing different from the claims that Fox diminished Dominion's reputation - with one very major exception. Dominion can get back at Fox if Dominion has a viable case and can recover damages; how does an exonerated victim get back at a DA and the court system?

I think the reality of grand juries is a valid discussion, given that a lot of people are saying “well an independent grand jury did this, not just Bragg.” That reality means that an indictment doesn’t really dispel the “political witch hunt” arguments.

All the legal and procedural safeguards, including trial, will mostly take care of that, in time. In my opinion, it seems valid to question whether this one case is a serious case or one that’s improperly motivated.

I've wondered for years when the GOP was going to wake up and realize they are at war and they have to actually put up a fight. Trump was the fist sign of life, even though I never considered him either a real republican or conservative anyway. The interesting part was that he did at least get down in the mud and fight with the dems unlike the rest of the GOP who seem "too good" to get a little dirt on their hands or break a fingernail. The GOP should just rename itself the Pansy Party and get it over with.

What a warped perspective. The guy paid a porn star/stripper over $100K for her silence, prior to an election. It looks like that would factor somewhere into this moral outrage, but it never does.
