The (many) indictments of Donald Trump

I absolutely 10,000% believe you have misdemeanors here but the only way you get to a felony hush money charge was that it was done with the intent to cover up another crime.

Just think it's a stretch to tie back to campaign or tax fraud....

This should help those who are 'struggling' with tRump's upcoming incarceration...

Yawn, MSNBC. Might as well post the DNC since it is the same level of partisanship...

It's a stretch to tie it to campaign finance laws and given Trump's tax filings, a virtual impossibility to tie it to tax fraud.....

Trump paid no income taxes with or without his accounting for these expenses.....

You keep on sailing that ship, Kind Sir. Doom awaits.

He clearly misrepresented his financial statements. I have no issue with saying that. I just don't think he did it to cover up another crime. Trump clearly is guilty of misdemeanors here.

I believe Trump treated these expenses in a way to get a tax deduction for them. It's probably a stretch from a tax perspective but given how much of his empire is built on branding, it's not a completely frivolous argument...

My neighbor 'clearly misrepresented his financial statements' and got five years probation and a felony conviction. One state, the other federal.

Under New York state law, a person can be found guilty of criminal possession if they possess a firearm, such as a pistol, that has not been registered. The felony carries a maximum sentence of four years.

I am sure the Dem nitwits approve of prosecuting all crimes…a gun crime at that..2Fer

The transactions at play here are not material to Trump's financial statements.

Honestly, this appears to be a misdemeanor that should be subject to a fine. This isn't a felony each time a weekly or monthly accrual or payment is made....

Didn’t the statute of limitations run out on the misdemeanors and Bragg is trying to do an end around by upgrading to a felony to reset the clock? But Bragg hasn’t even stated the felonies as of yet? I think I’m remembering that correctly. If so, then how can they even allow a trial to go forward?

Yes, that is correct. SOL for misdemeanors is 2 years.

He has stated the connected felonies are campaign finance violations and income tax evasion...

I really wish the first trial was the documents case. To this day, Trump has given no rational explanation for why he 1) took such a large volume of material with him -- boxes and boxes and boxes of them" or 2) why he kept refusing to give them back when asked repeatedly for them.

Add to that the effort once the take-back was under way to destroy evidence of his role in it.

Cool. You ready for Bidens? Hell his excuse is that he wanted to write a book. Looks like he knew he was breaking the law in his effort to take docs. Get em both. And all the others. Hell we won't have an ex potus out of prison

It’s laughable that these were tortuously upgraded to felonies.

Question at this point - can Bragg get a conviction?

It's clear that Trump is likely guilty of a misdemeanor. But, the state didn't bring that up in time and the felony case just seems like a stretch....

Then he should have no problem on appeal, correct?

We'll see.

And what's more important is you seem completely fine with him having paid her off and forged the books to try to hide it ... from you. From you.

And you look for reasons to ignore that.
