The (many) indictments of Donald Trump

Its not even the conviction. Of course he was guilty of some/few things. I'm not a legal expert, but I dont often hear of a jury convicting of every charge. People are just naturally argumentative and disagreeable. 34/34 counts is a red flag for me. JMO

It was either going to be 0/34 or 34/34. It was the same charge over and over

A felony for each invoice
A felony for each check cut
A felony for each time entered into accounting system

There were 34 separate transactions and 34 felonies..

Do you actually think he's innocent? Or do you prefer it be overlooked because he's running for office ?

Seems to me the MAGA crowd have insisted on legal accountability for lots of Dem politicians over the years. But shoe's on the other foot and suddenly it's bad process to hold an active candidate accountable?

Hmmmm... lot of hypocrisy up in here today.
I don’t think Trump is entirely innocent, but that’s not what I said anyway. I think a lot of the indictments were political piling on, but I’m not a lawyer and I haven’t read all the evidence. There’s just so much that seems suspect. What do you mean the shoe is on the other foot?? The major Dem politician that destroyed hard drives and files skated when Comey/FBI cavalierly explained it all away. But the Steele Dossier was legit, right? You mean that kind of accountability?

Good........ Now that this is over we can get back to the business of electing another ****** president!

I mostly see 4 distinct camps here.

Camp 1
Absolutely believe in the righteousness of these charges, this trial, and verdict.

Camp 2
Absolutely hate Trump so much that they don’t give an eff about the tactics.

Camp 3
May or may not care for Trump, but are uneasy about the courts being used this way.

Camp 4
Love Trump. Think he’s innocent of any and all wrongdoing.

Which camp are you in gang!?

Thanks for posting these. Am I missing the jury instruction that showed the relevance of the level of detail included in the testimony related to the former president raw-dogging the porn chic? That seems to me to have been unnecessary; I thought it went overboard in attacking the former president’s character rather than proving any of the items in the instructions. I suspect that will be litigated on appeal.

Also, anyone know what the NY definition of “defraud” is? With all the other definitions I read in these instructions, it is noteworthy to me that “defraud” is not defined. It seems rather significant in the context of the instructions.

Did the prosecution ever identify something tangible or was it just, for lack of a sophisticated term, “goodwill” which was alleged to have been the object of the fraud?

The truth is, even though the trial was completely a political move, Trump probably is guilty. GOP had the chance to do the same to Hillary but chose not to go down that road. We're so used to seeing politicians protected that people ignore many of them are actually guilty of crimes. Hell, I'm sure there's things Biden could be tried for, though I doubt it happens. I'm not sure the GOP has the gumption to use the courts like the Democrats have chosen to do. They've weaponized the judicial system. But again, that doesn't make Trump innocent. We probably should start prosecuting a lot more of these political figures and stop letting them slide simply because they believe themselves above the law.
