The Masters Tournament

I don't get that either. It would certainly add to the drama if Tiger played and was in contention during the weekend, but it's not going to make me watch any less of it than I was already planning to.

Agree. I'll watch as much of it as my schedule allows. Tiger hasn't been much of a factor in the major tournaments in quite a while now so that act about not watching since he's out is getting quite old IMO.

I'll take suggestions on places to look for hotels near Augusta within a couple hours drive.

Columbia, SC is only a little over an hour away and you'd probably still be able to find something decent that isn't going for the absurd prices everyone in close proximity to Augusta will be wanting.

I live in Augusta now and I usually go a few days out of the week. Ill be there this Saturday as I have to work Mon-Fri. If you have any questions about Augusta let me know. Lived here my whole life excwpt three years in BAMA country.

I've actually got lodging in Augusta lined up.

My only real concern at this point is if the souvenirs will be picked over before I get the chance to bankrupt myself in the pro shop.

I feel like the only thing they run out of is certain hats. Ive never had a problem with anything else. I believe this year they are also having a UPS store at the shop so you can buy everything and ship from there if needed.

Looks like I'm going on Saturday. I just have to stay alive for 6 more days.

awesome...Went to 2 days of practice rounds, can't imagine the crowds over the weekend

I suggest 16, nice sitting area across the pond from the green, or the bleachers by the tee box

of course Amen corner's hard to beat

enjoy

I don't live far enough away to really need that. But it may beat carrying it around all day.

If I had a choice I'd go on a practice day, but I don't. I can more than live with this.

You can check all the stuff you buy at the pro shop and they'll store it in a locker all day free of charge. That way you can avoid carrying your stuff all day, but also not have to ship it.

Another word of advice, get there early, as the pro shop opens an hour before the actual course, and be sure to buy one of those folding chairs at the pro shop. Go set it up first thing once you get out on the course. You can leave it there all day and come and go as you please and people will just leave it alone. Personally I'd recommend setting up somewhere around the 16th green. If you get in the right spot you can see guys making their approaches/putting on #15, all the action at #16, tee shots back up the hill on #17 and possibly some of the shots at #6 as well.

This!!!

Headed down today at four. Got practice round tickets for tomorrow.

Monday and Tuesday are my favorite days to go. By Wednesday, it's feeling compressed because the course shuts down for the Par 3 Tournament. Then it's just a different vibe altogether on Thurs and Friday. The weekend is for the birds unless you're ok with sitting in one place all day.

But then........you'd be in Columbia, SC. Actually some parts aren't bad. I stay at the Hampton Downtown in the "Historic" section. A few decent bars and restaurants within easy walking. USCe is around the corner. It's no Athens
