Be sure to stop by Bonaventure Discount Golf on your way out of town. It's right off 520 and looks like a dingy aircraft hangar, but they've got tons of stuff.

Yes . . . indeed. One of my favorite Masters memories is seeing John Daly at Hooters a few years ago. He wasn't actually in the field that week.

not that it would have mattered if he was playing or not.

I'm sure he was just there for promotional purposes, but it was still funny to see him there even though he wasn't playing. That Hooters can't be more than 3/4 of a mile from the front gate of Augusta National.

I hate all of you.

Especially those of you who take it for granted.

This.
We went to Hooters on the Monday nite when we were there and sat outside in the tent. Our waitress was smokin' hot. Smokin'. After talking with us for a bit she said she had to go back to Myrtle Beach the next day because they were doing a new Hooters calendar shoot but would be back for the end of the week. She said they always bring in the 'A Team' for that week.

Dailey or not, Hooters is well worth the stop

Only place to go if it rains.

Without intending to hijack things I wonder if Joslyn James or her peers will populate (or pollute) the local clubs the week of the Masters.

Having been to Augusta a few times, but not on the club grounds it looks like a normal southern city with a hidden wonder behind tall trees.

I knew I shouldn't have posted that. :)

I've just been very fortunate with PGA Tour events. Due to being centrally located among several tour stops, I usually end up going to at least a couple of tournaments a year among the Masters, Heritage, AT&T, Tour Championship, the Players and the old Buick Invitational. I'm never going to pass up a chance to go to the Masters, but it's not the end of the world if I miss a year.

I figure the weather and access to golf is God's way of paying me back for for enduring endless UGA coverage.

It's all good. I have been very fortunate with events as well, just not the Masters. I have played in a few Pro-Ams, attended the Players a lot and got to play the TPC Sawgrass a few times as well.

But the Masters is high on my list of things to do...:hi:

Going to the practice round Tuesday and taking my wife because she has never been. It is the best place I have ever been period.

I have played many of the top private and public courses around the country and nothing comes close to Augusta. I would prefer to go watch and walk the grounds there than play anywhere else.

I haven't played Augusta but I did play Torrey Pines the week before they closed it for the US Open in 2008 and it was worth the price.

If you've never been to the Wednesday practice round, it's pretty neat. They shut everything down around 2:00 and play the Par 3 tournament which you'd think would be a letdown, but the access you get to the players is incredible. I was there a couple of years ago and got ribbed by Jack Friggin' Nicklaus because I was wearing a Titleist cap with a Power T on the side of it right after Ohio State had beaten us in the NCAA Tournament.

You know if you have tickets that you don't want, I'd be glad to take them off your hands.

Yoyo....what are your suggestions for the Masters?

For a practice round I always get there when the gates open 8 am. If it were my first time I would walk the entire course starting at 1 when you get there. You can't see on TV all of the hills and undulations.

I would spend some time at the range and around the putting green. During the practice rounds the players tend to be pretty loose and you can hear them interact with each other and their coaches. Also you can get some good photos as well.

When a lot of the players get out on the course go over to 16 and watch the players skip balls off the water on the green. It is cool to see players that normally aren't considered the funny type really participate and engage the crowd at 16.

You can check the board when you go in for start times for practice rounds but it is all subject to change. I know for this Tuesday that Woods and Mickelson have PM press conferences so if they play it will be in the morning. If there is a big name player you want to get some pictures of I would suggest jumping a couple of holes ahead of them instead of trying to fight through the crowd following them. I remember in 1999 we did this when Tiger, Sergio and Hank Kuehne were playing a practice round together and Jack was following them around in a cart after his surgery. We jumped up to 17 tee while they were on 15 so we would be right on the ropes and got some great pictures of all of them.

I second this. Wednesday is the best day to be there. Thursday on the range is sweet too. Thereafter, beside 11 green, which is behind 12 tee is the spot.

That's a great spot if you get a prime seat.

I'm partial to the very top of the grandstand to the left of the 15th green where you can see the approach and green on 15 and then turn around and see the entire 16th. Also, if the azaleas have popped, you've got to spend some time over at the 13th fairway just for the spectacle of it.

And if it's your first time going, as you walk to Amen Corner, be sure to get behind the 18th tee and take a look at that chute. It's insane looking.

This is another one of the thngs that you can't see on TV. When you see it in person you understand why guys hit it in the trees to the right when the pressure is on them.

Observing multiple shots on 16 must be a treat. I expected more comments about amen corner, but the golfers probably don't have a good time on those holes during practice or the tournament.

Seeing the players practice loose and interacting with the crowds must be as good as watching the real thing during the four actual rounds.
