The mighty Gators

Oregon and UF fan? Can't make up your mind? I suppose if one has a bad season then they will be taken off and replaced with a team that had a good season?

Oregon's never been an elite team, and weren't really "good" except in the early and latter parts of the last decade. :ermm:

Furthermore, I've already gone over this.

if you cant utilize all this talent this yr and offense keeps lookin predictable and easy to stop all the running sideways and throwing outs behind the goal line

and we need to pass first to open up the run game damn it

if addazio doesnt start thowing down field alot more this yr and using thompson, hines, rainey, debose right he's gotta go after this yr bring in another OC

Meyer is looking more like Richt or Miles all the time.

This is the weakest coaching staff he's had at UF. Last year wasn't all that impressive except that Tebow could put them on his back and play FB. As much talent as they have, they should be much better.

Minus the pac-10 championship last year.

It was nice to see the Gators suck. But they will work it out this and next week. Mostly missed snaps.

I expect Pouncey to get the snap problems corrected, and I expect more from the running game when everyone is back and healthy. That said, Addazio's play calling was horrible.

I liked what I saw from the defense. We played just about everyone on that side of the ball. The secondary played well without Will Hill.

Bottom line is we have a ton of work to do. I envisioned 2-3 losses this season with so much new personnel...and unless something changes that might be too optimistic.

I think that is realistic.

I am hoping one of those losses is in Neyland.

We ARE DUE!!!!

UF looked sloppy as some of the higher ranked teams did. They have some issues but the season opener does not define a season especially when you win.

UF like UT should get better as the season goes, both are playing young talent in key spots.

UF just has more of them at this point.

Defense saved the day.

UF will get things corrected...but here I was being flamed in another thread all week by the Gator trolls and even some UT fans for saying Meyer wasn't all that elite, and he was made to look better than he really was by fertile recruiting grounds, a weak SEC east, Mullen, Tebow, and Strong.

If I had to guess I would bet UF still wins 9-10 games this year, just on the sheer talent he gets right from his backyard. But I still contend he isn't near the genius all the yahoos on here bow down to him as.

Mark it down. If he loses more than 4 games this year he "retires" again.

Meyer is now 58-10 in his 6th year at Florida. 2 SEC titles, 2 national titles, 3 SECCG appearances. Never won fewer than 9 games.

He has had success at EVERY stop in his career.

Urban Meyer is an elite head coach. That doesn't mean his team can't **** the bed from time to time.

Saban is elite and his team lost to ULM in 2007. Does that mean he wasn't elite? Hell no. Crap happens.

If UF makes those mistakes all season long, then something is SERIOUSLY wrong, but come on, we've all seen this before. UF plays a really bad game (usually losing, they lucked out that they had a weak opponent) and then they come back and murder people.

We'll know in 5 days. They open next saturday at noon again against USF.

They'll clean up the snap problems. Having 26 yards of offense going into the 4th quarter indicates they may have more than snap problems.

The botched snaps had more to do with our rushing numbers than Addazio's wretched play calling.

We probably lost 60 yards on those errant snaps.

That said, Addazio's play calling was wretched.

O line play sucked as well. Defense will be solid with time. Secondary is overrated, but front 7 can be stout.

Yep, the o-line looked lost without Nixon and Johnson. We get both back this weekend.

The defense will be just fine. Our LBs are much faster than last year, which means absolutely nothing if they screw up assignments or overrun plays. I was really impressed with Bostic.

Disagree with you about our secondary. After Jenkins got that pick-6, rarely did Miami test us on the outside. They dinked and dunked us in the second half, which is the same thing teams did to us when Strong was DC. Black is a stud and Will Hill didn't play.

Very good chance USF upsets the Gators this weekend...They had better get someone who can snap the ball and hold on to it.

Anything is possible I guess. But I think Florida will show up in a big way. Fl by 21.

Secondary is one of the stronger points of the team. Janoris Jenkins, Ahmad Black, and Will Hill, will all likely be drafted. JJ and Hill going on the first day.

Really it is the first game. Remember there is no preseason in the NCAA...look Oklahoma barely beat Utah State. Nobody is saying anything about Bob Stoops. We will see in a couple of weeks if the issues have resolved. A lot of the starters were out so we had plenty of young guys in there. 15 true freshmen played on Saturday. I expect them to come out big on Saturday to make amends for that lackluster performance on Saturday.

I think the Gators looked vulnerable, but I think Urban will get them back on track. We will face a talented, tough UF team in Neyland

I would rather have their problems than ours. Most of the things troubling the gators can be corrected or at least improved. A talent and depth problem can't.

This is one year I'm glad we play FL early after watching that 1st performance. We have our hands too full this week to worry about it though.

As it turns out, the Gators played 15 true freshmen in their season-opening 34-12 victory over Miami (Ohio), which was more than anybody else in the country.

And also managed to look like they had never played football before.

I can understand true freshman having a learning curve but Pouncy was your biggest problem.
