That's a fair answer. Though I do think there should be at least some minimum standards and guidance along with checks and balances on the matter. The way you described could be abused in the wrong hands.
I appreciate the dialogue and I’ll keep religion out of it. You never answered my question if you consider the United States the greatest country? If not, what was your motivation to serve?
You’re overthinking it. If you could live anywhere else in the world, would you?Greatest in what way?
The subjectivity in that statement is too big to wrap my head around.
Healthcare?
Education?
Freedoms?
Happiness?
Quality of Life?
Human rights?
Class equity?
I'd say that an amalgamation of those metrics would put the United States in the top 10, sure.
Even happening to my beloved Marine CorpsGV, we agree a lot, and disagree occasionally. The military branches of the United States of America exist for one reason, and one reason only: To protect this nation against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. You remember that oath right?
You and I both served in the military. We remember why we served, and what we trained for. War. Unconditional war.
Anything...anything...that reduces, discourages, or limits the lethality of our armed forces...by extension...reduces the effectiveness of our armed forces. The basic goal of the military is to make the enemy die for their cause.
So...anything...anything that reduces the primary goal, focus, fitness, and readiness for war...is to make us weaker as a nation.
Tough times require tough people. Diversity is the refuge of the weak-minded, and weak in both spirit, character, and morals. General George S. Patton was the ultimate warrior...God rest his soul...and he would have bitch-slapped the entire Joint Chiefs of Staff for even entertaining the thought of what the military is currently experiencing. And rightfully so.
Hurts my heart to see the greatest military forces in the history of the world get emasculated. Been going on for a while now.

Where I would draw the line is gang membership and support for things like BLM (or WLM if it existed). Gang membership issue is apparently a growing problem, and it would certainly seem to circumvent legitimate leadership. Viet Nam showed that racism in the ranks posed a significant problem to order and discipline. I'd think that if someone joined the military without leaving behind other allegiances that affect the ability to follow orders, then that person has no place in the military.
I wonder if they will identify the first "extremist" as the person who is creating the program?
