The Month of May

Oh yeah. Will actually be in town the week before for qualifying this year too.

Last year work caused me to miss race weekend, and basically the whole month. I was in town less than 24 hours for the race. And while I'm going to have to make a similar trip for the race, I'll have the time to make up for it with Pole Day and Bump Day. I haven't actually been to quals in I don't know how long. Last time I tried, it rained, which means it probably will this year too.

It's the 100th Anniversary and 95th running. I read they had every wining car in the museum right now, so if nothing else, I'm going to see that. Would like to get a pic with every Mears car, especially the 91 car.

So, two trips to Indy in two weeks (one less than 24 hours) has me giddy nonetheless. Don't recall being this excited in some time.

I would drive up just to see the museum with every winning car. I suppose the 91 race is special due to it being the first race with four members of the same family starting - Andretti's? :p Or could it be for when Michael passed Mears on the outside on a restart for the lead only to have Mears return the favor the next lap, only at full speed. Not done very often, if ever. Mears went on to win his fourth 500.

Fast Friday is here.

Can't wait for tomorrow.

I'm going with pole speed at 228.3.

This is by far the strongest field in some years. Sunday afternoon is going to be incredible.

Pulling for Dario since he lives where I grew up

Too much heavy air. Too much wind.

Interesting day here. I think it's over.

Track is now dry. Wind blowing the opposite way it was all day.

This will be a lot of fun.

Pulling for Eddie C and Sarah Fischer Racing, with another strong run by Buddy Rice too.

The run earlier by Simona de Silvestro was incredible. If you have a TV, and you're not tuned in tomorrow afternoon about 5:00, just quit paying for cable.

The sun went away and the wind died. Conditions were perfect.

The best team in IRL can't calculate gas mileage - classic.

Congrats to Tag; bold run at the end. Ed Carpenter's attempt almost ended in disaster - way to much speed into Turn 1.

Surprised that Penske and Andretti are struggling so much.

Simona de Silvestre has some big cajones - seeing the condition of her hands but jumping back in the car is pretty impressive.

Hope the rain clears for a big bump day.

Simona's hands and the wreck that resulted in 2nd degree burns all over her hands. They left the dead skin on and wrapped her up so she could drive.

After this the car flipped and caught on fire.

Team Andretti may fail to qualify two cars this year, not the way to endear yourself in the heart of your sponsor. Especially Go Daddy.com. What's the over/under on how long into the interview with/Danica that she starts to cry?
